Any thoughts on this please?

In our main school we have the usual Cat5e wiring back to the patch panels. We then seperate it to different switches. Most are on the main switches but the VoIP phones are on the VoIP switch. This goes out through a separate broadband. In another building we have a patch panel and switch. The switch is connected to the main one via Fibre. I don't suppose that we can split it once it gets back to the main cab can we ? I don't think we can In case your wondering its for the Nooks that can't access the internet via a proxy
-
Hi We occasionally get this when logging onto our servers. The referenced account is locked out and may not be logged into. However, we have just installed Backupassist and the backups won't run as it says the same error message. Any ideas please? Thanks

Hi We have some Nooks that won't access the internet as there is no-where to put the proxy settings in. they are on a seperate scope in dhcp IE 10.10.9.x rather than 10.10.6.x which the computers are on. We use forefront as a proxy. Is there a way to allow them through without using the proxy server ? Thanks

Hi, Yes ipconfig /all gives us the DNS IP addresses of the ISP and then the local router.

Hi Had a couple of issues with some of our machines that connect over direct access. Every so often they can't access any mapped drives. Sometimes it does it a few times a day. If they browse to \\drives it doesn't work. But if they browse to \\drives.domain.local it works fine ipconfig /flushdns makes it work but sometimes it does it again Any suggestions please? thanks

Static IP isn't a problem if I stick with the 50mb connection. Just wondering how other people do it too -- do they put the public ip on the external card of the mail server?
-
Thanks, just don't understand it. On godaddy, mail.domainname.org points to the public IP that we have. Can't see anywhere else that the public IP is set as the router is set to dynamic with the DMZ

Hi, Quick question about you do your on-site Exchange public IP address. At present we have a virgin superhub and it has a DMZ, which points to the IP address of our exchange gateway (firewall server). This is just the 192.168.0.xx address. -- Don't ask, I have inherited this bad setup. We are having problems with virgin at the moment and they have offered us 150Mb service but you can't have a static IP address on the router. Newbie question but do you need static IP for mail? Can i put static IP on the external card of the server instead? Many thanks Karl

Hi, Newbie office 365 questions :- We have 1 exchange server onsite. If we went down the office 365 route, can we keep the exchange server on site and just use the office 365 one as backup ? Thanks
-
Thanks -- it says "The remote computer could not be found". I've got a feeling the shortcut is pointing to the local server

Hi, I have setup rds on my server. From the internet you can go to http://remote.domainname.org/rdweb and can log in successfully and see the remote apps. If clients are connected via directaccess the remote apps work fine. If they are just connected to a wifi none of the apps work - i only need a shortcut to shared folders really. Any ideas please? Thanks

Just had a thought on this, is there a way to put a 2nd network card in the exchange server connected to a 2nd broadband so if the main MX record goes down it will go via the 2nd one but it goes to the same exchange box ? Thanks

Remote Support Software

Does that still require the end user to put in an ID and open the program, some of our staff struggle to go to program files ! -
Just a restart of the super hub.

Hi, We have approx 10 offsite computers, rising to 15 shortly. When these have issues I would like to be able to see there screen from the office -- they connect via directaccess to our site but sometimes its that thats an issue. At present I'm using some freeware but obviously it needs the user to access our shared drive to get the package, (it asks for admin password but still works if you cancel it), they then give me an ID and i type that into my pc. Is there any software (preferably free) that as long as they have an internet connection i can access there pc -- I have looked at NTRCloud but our support company have it installed and it won't take 2 installers. Happy to go and install the software on the client initially. Thanks

Hi, Bit of background. Our Exchange server sits behind our firewall server (it also has an internal card) The trouble is that the connection is via a virgin superhub 1 and it drops out every couple of week - a restart fixes it but it always seems to go down at weekend when staff need emails on there phone. We have a backup mx setup - but that is if we swap the cable from the firewall server into a BT connection. The other backup mx is to another companies backup mx store. Is there a way that when virgin goes down it can swap to a different connection -- I'm presuming either another network card in the exchange box or even another exchange server in a DAG? Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks

Thanks , tried the /s switch but gives an error rather than load the app.

Hi We have just got papercut mf and it comes with a little exe file to display peoples credits. I've set it in User Configuration -- Admin Templates -- System -- Logon -- Run these programs at logon. I've put the FQDN path in there straight to the exe and when people logon it comes up that they have to press run or cancel. Can I get it to run without prompting ? Thanks

Hi Quick question, what antispam / antivirus software do you all use on your exchange server? We have forefront but the license has expired so looking at ESET.
