Hi, We map network drives via logon script. I've moved some shares across to a new server and also created a new share. I've changed the logon script. When a teacher logs on its picking up the new share correctly as a mapped drive but the one that i've just moved has a red cross against it. I've unshared the old share hence the red cross but its not mapped the new one? Any ideas? the share has everyone with full control and correct ntfs permissions but they can't browse to the share but going into network in my computer they can get it? Thanks

Hi, Just trying to copy pupil drives from one server to another using xcopy and when it creates the folders on the new one it creates a ~ after the first 6 characters. EG armstr~1. Any suggestions? Thanks

Its not just the thumbs.db file thought Steve but thanks anyway. Its whichever file they open word etc

Staff are having a cleanup at the moment of their own drives. If they open a file up to check what it is and then close it and try to delete it they get an error. (attached) What is the best solution? If they wait say 10 minutes they can then delete the file Thanks

Hi, I've just setup wsus on a new server. I've got set in Computer config all the details and clients are reporting. I've got "Do not display install updates and shut down" Disabled but pupils are still getting the option to do that. Before I had wsus setup I had that disabled and the pupils never got the option. Hi, I've got a new 2012 R2 file server up and running with a few test shares and I'd like to get backup up and running. How do you back up hyper v machines? I've got ZEN Backupassist with Hyper V module. Do I stick it on the HyperV host and just backup the virtual disks? If so how can I then restore individual files the pupils delete? Or do I put it on each virtual machine? Thanks Karl

Hi all I've setup a new server ML350 G8. Total of 32gb ram and 2 processors. Setup hyper v on the host It has 2 network cards in it so I've used 2 - one for the host nic and one for the hyper v nic. In hyper v virtual switch manager i've got the box unticked that says "Allow management operating system to share this network adapter". I've also got it set on the correct nic. The hyper v server I have setup finds the network fine (its now a member of the domain). However network access on it is very slow. It says it was going to take 5 hours to copy 1.5gb over from another network share. Pinging the current school physical server takes between 70ms and 100ms. Also browsing a test share on the hyper v machine from the current physical server has a noticeable delay. (couple of seconds) Have I got the setup correct please? Thanks

Hi Current situation is 1 school server (120 users), doing everything (server 2003) and 1 admin server (5 users - server 2003.) Proposal is to purchase 1 server and split into virtual ones (i've got the quotes already). This is my proposed install plan if you could check it over please. Many thanks

Hi I've just purchased a graphics card that has DVI and VGA built in. (I'm just using the vga). When I try to set up the 2nd display nothing appears on screen - by the looks of it, it wants to use the dvi input too. Is there a way to tell Windows 7 that I'd like to use vga from graphics card on one monitor and VGA from on-board on 2nd monitor? Thanks

Hi, Users have complained that when they log on to a different computer there work isn't there (work done recently on the computer they usually work on). When I go in to there home folder on the computer they usually use it says offline. I try to sync, which it says its done but the home folder is still offline. I've got offline files disabled (or so I think). Any ideas? Thanks

We have 1 itunes account that we use on all iPad devices (not the volume one) When I try to install apps via Meraki it says Code: 12023 Domain MCMDMErrorDomain The iTunes Store ID of the application could not be validated. Code: 301 Domain SSErrorDomain Cannot connect to iTunes Store Any ideas? I can successfully send a message from Meraki Dashboard to the iPad Thanks

Hello Our phone system is 25 years old now - an old Siemens hicom 150e. The cables and equipment are slowly deteriorating and I'd like to update it to VOIP. Couple of newbie questions:- Do you need an additional network point in each room that you would like a phone? Which is specific software you need on server to make them run? The easiest option would be to get usb phones for the computers - is that possible and have a central piece of software that connects them all ? This would be my preferred option. Thanks Karl

Hi, Had this issue for a while now. We are running Windows 7 and Server 2003. Got RSAT installed on a Win 7 client to edit policies. Occasionally users get errors where they can't move files / folders and they get an error. Some files are also greyed out and not avaliable. The PC's are plugged into the network all the time so they don't need to work offline. I've read that you can't disable offline files, you just need to disable the service. Is that correct? When i've read the computer config it just says the settings are for windows 2000, xp. Do I need to enable slow link mode? Any help appreciated. Thanks

Thanks. It doesn't reboot as such, it cuts off and then boots itself back up

We've got an RM one PC thats a touch screen. For a while its been rebooting on logon, the first time someone logs on that day. Once its rebooted it works fine then for rest of day. What do we recon? I've done a hard disk scan but it showed no errors. I'm thinking RAM or corrupt windows file. Thanks

Hi We've had our 11 ipads about a year but not got down to managing them properly. They are done via 1 Windows computer using iPhone configuration utility. Is there any program that I can configure to remove the settings app, stop pupils renaming the ipad etc ? Is this something that Meraki or Apple configurator on a mac can do? Thanks

HI I've got a laptop that won't load. It says that pci.sys is corrupt. I've put xp disk in and tried the repair console. When I try to copy pci.sys from the dllcache folder it says unable to copy. I can copy it to Windows/System32 but not to Windows/System32/DRIVERS ? Any ideas Only need it working in safe mode really to get all photos off. Thanks

Hi We don't have ISA server or any filtering on our site - its all based at the ISP end. I'm trying to unblock youtube for staff but not pupils. Youtube https is currently blocked in DNS by giving it a false IP address One way I can do it is if it change DNS on the client to the router and they can access it via HTTPS Is there a way via regedit or logon script to add the DNS entry based on whether its staff or pupils login on.
