Hi, The printers here have been setup to deploy via GPO. It was set to delete all then add the ones in the list. However, if people have added a shared printer thats not on the server, it deletes that too. If I take out the delete all, and just keep the ones to add, will it add them everytime they log on and they get 100's of same printers or if its present will it not add it (which is what I'm hoping for) Thanks

Newbie exchange question: Got a user who has got married so I've added an email address to her existing user account (i've not changed her user account name as yet). I created a new user account for her new name but obviously it won't let me create the same email address for her. Can I move the mailbox for the old account (diary and contacts) to the new account -- or is the best option just to rename user account in AD ? Thanks

Hi all, For those that don't know I switched jobs to a primary school, that also owns and runs several nurseries and out of school clubs around the surrounding villages. I've inherited a very bad setup. 13 servers in total all ranging from Intel Xeon processors, to HP intel p4 desktops. List of servers are as follows - 16 of the damn things in total: Primary - domain controller Secondary - domain controller Bromcom - pupil management software Directaccess - directaccess and vpn server Drives - all network shared drives Firewall - firewall proxy server with Microsoft threat management gateway p Intranet - Hosting sharepoint intranet Lync - Lync server Lynctmg - Lynch threat management gateway reverse proxy Lyncedge - Lync edge server Mail - exchange mail server POE - point of entry server - VPN, IIS, exchange, intranet Store - profile and my documents store Systemcenter - system center webapps - Door lock software websql - sharepoint helpdesk software The school is quite tight in terms of Monday. We've had a few issues of servers dieing due to age and when we've looked even the drives server isn't set up as RAID !!!! Was wondering where people would take it from here. Its an ideal opportunity for me to get a decent system up and running that people rely on everyday. I was thinking 2 servers to host virtual machines - domain controller on either, 1 virtual file server. Rest of software could nearly be split across them both Thanks

Yeah iscsi works fine - I did it with a qnap box. Hyper v is great, easy to setup and restart machines. Be careful if its HP host server - I had issues with a network card and it was basically a tick box to untick - I set up 1 network card in hyper v for each machine and worked great

Hi all We have a nursery opening next week that is offsite. The machines come as Win 8 pro. If I add the school vpn, is there a way to make it connect before logon ? I ask this because some admin staff are going to be based out there and they won't have logged onto the machines before. I don't want it to say "no logon servers available" when they logon for first time. We have a copy of Win 8 enterprise so could pop that on and use direct access - does that connect before logon so they won't get the "no logon servers" issue? Thanks

Hi I would like to setup an email address [email protected] I've added it to accepted domains. I've created the account in AD. When I send to it externally it says error 550, user unknown in virtual mailbox table. Its not on our normal domain but I've added it to accept domains. Hi, We've got the error "Error while preparing to send sharing message" when users try to share their outlook calendar or tasks folder. However it does work for some users. I'm presuming the older ones worked on an old version of exchange and its been upgraded. I just started so don't 100% know what the setup is. I've read about auto discovery but not sure what to check on. Any help appreciated Thanks

Hi We are using Lync server 2013. It works for most users on autoconfiguation. However, a few issues it says it can't connect to the lync server due to a dns issue. If I set the client to manual configuration and put lync.domain.local it works fine. In the dns on the domain controller, it has the setting in forward lookup zones: _sipinternaltls and its set to the same lync.domain.local that I type into the manual config on the client. port is 5061. Any ideas please? Just annoying as if staff move round they have to type the manual config in again. Thanks

The DNS Server setting in DHCP was also set to old server -- gee I must have been tired yesterday when I did this

OK found the cause of the problem. We also have an admin domain which about 5 staff used. I've joined there pc's to the school domain but the admin server still is running until next week. However when I've done ipconfig on a client on the school domain the admin domain has given there IP address out -- there is a 1 way trust rom admin to school. Any help on how to solve would be appreciated -- can i just remove DHCP from the admin server?

Thanks everyone. Correct there is currently only 1 dc (the new 2012 one). Everything replicated fine and all accounts are in AD on new machine. The new dc is a global catalog. Will double check fns and dhcp tomorrow as i can log onto the dc directly no problem Thanks

Hi all Bit of urgent help please. Just added a 2012r2 domain controller to the domain. Moved all 5 fsmo roles across to it. However when people try to logon now it says "there are no logon servers to process your request". I can't browse to \\xxxx\netlogon either -- but it was there before i ran dcpromo on old 2003server. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi We've got an issue with google chrome at the moment. When you click on a website it says unable to connect to proxy (we don't have any proxy settings it goes straight to ISP). IE works fine Click on Google chrome 5-10 mins later it works fine. Any suggestions appreciated? Thanks

Hi, I've done a search for this and tried the steps but not managed to get anywhere. I've got a 2012 file server and all machines running Win 7. All the mapped drives (apart from home directory) are mapped via logon script. They work fine. The home directory path is set via AD. This one has the green sync symbol next to it it Computer. Occasionally this is offline and pupils access a cached copy of there work (all on desktops rather than laptops). Is there a way to turn it off? I've set it in GP under User config and Computer config but think those settings are for 2003 / xp only Thanks

Thanks. I've just changed the drive letter on the logon script to a different one than the old one used and it works fine. Its there a script to delete the old connections before mapping new ones?
