Hi Does anyone know if there is a way to share a smartboard notebook gallery ? OR - can you add pictures to the gallery and save it as an installer? Basically we are using shape coding in school - drawing shapes around sentences to highlight verbs etc. If I create .jpg's for the shapes and add them to notebook I would like every PC to have them available in notebook too Karl

Ooo, thanks for that - I didn't know that existed - will take a look Yeah it does the job but can't wait to get rid !

Hi, There is quite a lot of forum extensions for Joomla Can anyone recommend a free one that doesn't have all the facebook / twitter / avatar stuff on it Must be linked to the joomla login though if possible so staff only have to log into the intranet once. Many thanks Karl

unfortunatley the only options on the port are 100fdx, auto, auto-100 and auto-1000. I've set it to auto-1000 and 1000 on the QNAP but its still connected at 100
-
Thanks. Its a patch cable straight into the device from the switch. I've just changed it to "auto-1000" in the console and it still says running at 100FDx. Don't think I've got the latest firmware but I'll check that one

Hi, I've got a manged switch, HP Procurve 2524. All the 24 ports are 10/100. It has 2 other ports - 1 has a fibre module in it, and 1 has a gigabit module. When I connect anything to the gigabit (just bought a qnap device that has a 1gb card) it only runs at 100mb. Any ideas.

After some more investigation I have found out its only avaliable in thumbnails view. Any other view it isn't - just in thumbnails view. Any ideas ?

Hi, I've found a few threads on here relating to this but they all mention active desktop. I use winsuite so that option is n/a. All I want to do is take out / disable the right click - set as desktop background option in Windows Explorer. Is there a GPO setting for this. They can't get to control panel so I don't want to disable the display tab - just want to disable the right click option. Karl

Hi I have just purchased a QNAP TS 439 Pro II+. I have set it up as ISCSI and the server can see it fine in Disk Management. Copied a share to it, that works fine too. When I come to back it up I have got some external disk. If I go into the management of the QNAP, in the folder listing it doesn't show the data that is on the ISCSI. I'm assuming this has been formatting differently and it can only be seen from the server. In that case, do the external disks need to be plugged into the server to backup rather than the NAS. Obviously the backup will be quicker direct from the NAS. Karl

Hi, Does anyone know of a wireless access point where you can configure the hours it is available via the console ? We are thinking of buying a seperate wifi point for our post 16 pupils but we would like to disable it at 11.30 pm Thanks
-
Can they be also backed up to a USB external disk ?
-
Perfect, thanks for that. I've noticed the 459 which is rack mounted so I'm guessing that will have same features etc. The mirror feature sounds really good. Is the mirror "live" - IE if you access a file share it could access the mirror one as well or is it just a copy ? Might get 2 of those tomorrow.
-
Thanks Zag, Yes I had a quick look at the Qnap. Couple of questions : 1 - Can you set permissions linking to AD ? 2 - I take it the price doesn't include disks ! 3 - How do you back the thing up - to an external USB disk ? Thanks
-
Hi, Thanks for the reply. There will be about 50 concurrent users accessing the device at once.

Hi, I'm looking at buying a network attached storage device - one that has a LAN connection. Never used one before. Can anyone recommend one - we only need something like 2TB of storage. Also if you have one that size or more - how do you back it up - onto another NAS device ? I'd rather have a proper one rather than just a USB external disk attached to the server ! Thanks

Hi I've got a laptop from a client. I has got about 50 Microsoft 6to4 adapters in device manger. I tried to uninstall them in safe mode as well and they won't go. Trouble is none of the intel adapters that are on there work. They are listed but says there's a code 31 and if you try to connect to a network it doesn't list any. I can't disable ipv6 as the adapter isn't listed. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi, Does anyone know any free software that converts powerpoint files into something that can be uploaded to youtube - mpg etc. Preferably a free one that does more than 5 slides ! Karl
-
In that case is there any free encryption software for generic memory sticks ?
-
Hi, We have a new ICT policy that tells staff about data protection and taking files home (not written by me). A few staff have now asked is there a way to password protect a memory stick rather than doing every individual document. I know some usb sticks have software to do it but they are not all the same stick. I was wondering if there is some generic software? Thanks

Hi We have VPN set up on our router. Both myself and another member of staff can connect in. The connection to the router is successful. I have vista at home and I can connect to a PC via mstsc or //servername/share and it asks for network username and password and works fine. They have an XP machine. Connects to router fine but not to any shares or mstsc. Any ideas ? Thanks

Thanks Does anyone know where I can find the History tab setting in GP ? I'm presuming that it covers all the permutations too -- CTRL + H etc
-
Hi Does anyone know where to block the history tab in IE7 in GP? If I block it and want to access someone's history can I enable it and the history will be there or will it have not logged it in there? Thanks
-
Got a wierd one. If I log on as a student on a normal PC on the domain, visit a few websites, log off. When I log back on the history is still there. If I log on as the same student on a PC he regularly uses, and do the same, when I log back on the history has gone. I don't remember setting anything in the policies about deleting history at logoff. Students don't have access to Internet Options so he won't have been able to set that option in there. He is quite good at getting round things. Also, my boss saw him to onto the history tab, and press the delete key on an item to remove it. Yet when I log on as him it doens't work for me. Any ideas? I'm going to turn off the history tab
