Hi, After changing ISP we don't use a proxy server anymore. Beforewhen I wanted to ban a pupil internet I changed there logon script to one that had a false proxy but now that doesnt work. Is there any way in group policy to set a fake default gateway or any other ideas. Thanks

Ok, Thanks for your replies. Just tried the .dll I've got the mac address of one student's laptop, put it in the text file etc. Tried the internet on their machine and it works ?? IPconfig shows they have been given an address ending in .71 but when I go into DHCP there isn't an assignment to .71 The dll log shows: Mon Nov 29 14:59:48 2010 022****67922 Deny Mon Nov 29 14:59:48 2010 000****49553 Allow Mon Nov 29 14:59:51 2010 022****67922 Deny Mon Nov 29 15:00:44 2010 0019****951b Allow so its denied the address but still works

No these are not in lessons, its a residential school so they are doing it on a night. Our kids are not clever enough to do mac spoofing for sure.

Just had a thought. I could probably give them static IP addresses then Ban access to the internet for those IP addresses in the router.

Hi, Current status: Server 2003 No ISA DHCP Since changing ISP we don't require a proxy server to access the internet and the filtering is "on the line". This obivously means that students can unplug network cables from the machines and use there laptops instead. The internet is filtered but I was wondering if there is an easy way to stop them doing it. I have there mac addresses. Thanks

Hi, I have got an Excel spreadsheet. I want to break the links on it that link to other documents. When you go to the break links sheet it says the workbook is protected. However I have put in the correct password and unprotected the sheet but it still does it. Any ideas? Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean mate? I cant get access to the original USB disk. The only disk I have access to is the hdd on the PC hoping there is a cached version of the files been opened via the disk

Without going into details, I basically need to check a computer out. The user has files stored on an external hard disk. They have access them on the computer but there isnt a copy of it on the computer. Is there any way to check when they have been opened and will there be a cached version ?. Some are pictures .jpg too. Thanks

How do you guys update the drivers for all your machines ? Do you rely on windows update or do you go to the manufacturers website ? I know theres a few driver update sites out there as well that are paid for. Thanks

Hi, I am going to use Clonezilla to get images of a few machines. I have downloaded and burnt the ISO disk of Clonezilla live. I have a windows server 2003 machine. In order to save to a samba server do I have to have a linux machine setup ? Can I save the disk image straight from a machine onto an external hard disk ? Thanks

PS . Gen Control doesn't work either so it has to be something on the clients that needs enabling.

Hi, Just setting up VNC for first time for internal use only. I have downloaded Skeep VNC but it can't contact any of the clients. Do you have to enable a policy / firewall setting on the clients to allow it to connect ? Thanks

Got a pc from a client today. Did a spyware check on it 1174 infections !! Removed all them. She also has a problem where shes done a defrag and now the screen is in 600x480 mode with 4 bit colour and wont let you change it. You can change it in safe mode but not in vga mode. Can't roll back driver and there is no system restore point. Any other ideas greatfully recieved. Thanks

Hi, On our new email system (EXA), if a user doesn't put a subject in they should get a message saying no subject. However in IE8 they get the yellow bar at the top to start with which asks them to allow scripted windows temporarily. Is there a way to do it on every machine via group policy ? Thanks
