  1. Our toppling is mainly caused by students. As above we use heavy duty velcro We also mix up the directions of the velcro so its much harder to topple in any direction-- pro tip - paint scraper between the layers of velcro does allow these to be moved as the directionality of the velcro also makes it hard to remove for maintenance...
  2. Has to be run as an administrator in the user context has to be installed for every user. *.apis.cricut.com *.cricut.com
  3. we use sleuth for Behaviour student..... sorry student behaviour.... not sure how staff investigations are dealt with....
  4. Special needs school here, we have just rejigged our iPad allocation to allow for more staff to use our assessment software. Our current issue is getting them to understand it is ONLY for that, not for anything else. Im sure you can put together a bid for this to come out of the main project budget, as we did, did not come out of IT. Out of our 200 plus i found 7 broken in the holidays. Sure the attrition rate is terrible, we do have a couple of systems in place - different coloured cases, different straps to identify to students these are not for use by them. not sure if any of that helps.
  5. The guidance from the DfE may be deliberately vague, The guidance from local HR services like SPS is very specific. Our HR has received a form they have to fill in for each shortlisted candidate, which includes using a variety of search engines, and social media. I have created as directed but with a CYA statement, that this will likely get deleted as social media are very hot on dummy accounts as they are against their T's and C's, and that is not my problem. Thanks to all for the discussion Edit - also sorry probably wasn't clear, i haven't been asked to do the searches, only set up the accounts and hand them off to HR.
  6. I am aware but currently "thats what SPS are telling us to do" is currently what keeps coming back
  7. Kent Teach and SPS are saying create Dummy Accounts - is this how anybody else is moving forward? Im wary of creating dummy accounts as i know some of the social media's are quite hot on dummy accounts.
  8. steal, eat, lose.... you name it -- Quick look on ebuyer showed me these....https://www.ebuyer.com/387679-tp-link-tl-wn725n-150mbps-wireless-n-nano-usb-adapter-tl-wn725n i think they may do the trick
  9. Problem is this is what happens if the leave them on--- i dont trust the teachers enough to give them a local login to fix it.
  10. Advice given to teachers last time: Some of the laptops had been incorrectly shut down or left logged in with the lids closed. Incorrectly shutting down laptops can cause the network cards to get “stuck” and so refuse to connect to a network. Always shut the laptops completely down and wait for at least 10 seconds after the screen backlight has gone off to close the lid, this will ensure that the laptop is closed down correctly. Other laptops did have issues with the network which we have sorted out. These laptops are new but slow on startup to connect to the network, they can take up to 30 seconds to connect to the wi-fi and therefore if you try to log on when the screen first comes on you will not be successful. If the laptop is not connected to the Wi-Fi you will see a globe, if it is you will see the usual Wi-Fi signal logo Please sign in to the machines but wait for the usual Wi-Fi signal before logging in on the login screen.
  11. Hi all, we have finally gotten around to putting some of these in circulation however they seem to take ages connecting to the Wi-fi even when right next to the point. Has anyone else had this? any solutions out there? going to try default profiles , but is this just the norm?

  18. Hi All, We are re-jigging our student permissions and im looking for some advice: Firstly: we currently have permissions that get re-sent out each year - we are looking to lengthen that to the length of time at the school (with the right to refuse of course - yearly reminded). As we are a special school some of these children could be with us for around 15 years - I suspect that is too long to hold permissions - should we reask for permissions every phase? Secondly: I am trying to work out if we need permission for each website where student data is held on. I believe (and feel free to correct me if I am wrong) that if we use a website for assessment purposes as our school way of working we don't have to ask for consent (i.e MIS to hold data, or something like Tapestry to hold assessment data for EYFS, iris for lesson observations). It is the other sites I'm concerned about. Would a statement in the permissions or online safety policy like *** School uses many websites in the course of educating, assessing, and aid our students? All websites that are used for this are risk assessed by the school, and only data required by these sites is uploaded, this may be names or names and birthdates. These websites include...... Education city, blah, blah. Please note I am aware that specific sites-- like Seesaw do need specific permissions and will be getting this seperatley. Thanks for help in advance
  19. I did have this enabled but i turned it off as the policy wasn't applying anywhere... i suppose it could be a holdover.....
  20. HI all, We are looking at our GPO's and trying to consolidate some of them. The particular one I'm looking at is a User GPO for Shortcuts. 1) no computer component but only works when linked at the devices OU ? 2) I had a previous GPO, that picked up logos for the shortcuts from a shared drive. This now does not work. I'm using the same folder and path but it is still refusing to pick up. Does anybody have any ideas? Eduhobnobs in advance...... i have been at this for 3 days but am almost at my wits end!! Well part 2 has solved itself with --- leaving it alone.... i should have known better

  23. Hi LA Foundation special school. We are kinda the same as you - but our main site is over 350 pupils now and over200 staff, our smaller 16+ is around the same as yours but much smaller ratio of staff. We are with Oakford FTP with filtering built in at the main site other site has FTC. Our main site phone system wouldnt expand to the other site, so they have a small 3CX system running and supported by the 3rd party, although we are looking at renewing the main site next July to a hosted system. Give me a shout if you want more info.
