We keep track of all we can - and run to the standards we can without compromising the teaching and learning aspect of the school. old iPads locked into guided access with just touch screen games on them or for very locked down browsing of sites (whitelisting on both the iPad and the filtering system) are what we can afford right now. Currently staff are being made redundant and benefits are being removed from staff due to the cuts in budgets- i don't feel out of line to say we will keep what we can working for as long as possible. We are Keeping to as many standards as possible within our realm of influence and budgetary restraints. As i said we don't plan on getting the paperwork but it doesn't mean we aren't doing all we can to ensure standars are followed. I am updating- just only to 18. whatever - the extras in 26 are not needed and just bloat space. I am sorry if i did not make that clear with my question, but i do not want this to get off topic onto a discussion of cyber essentials please
-
probably does- and i am not getting into that conversation. We don't have cyber essentials, and don't plan to as far as i am aware. these are mainly used for browsing and touch screen games so have no data on them - i have even disable the cameras to stop them from containing photos/data. we just need them to keep running as we have no budget to replace- like everyone else.

Currently trying to think my way around this -- we have quite a few older shared ipads with 32gb of storage. Which - with all the will in the world - will not handle ios 26 plus all the apps we have on for student use. i do have plans to sort them out and take some of the bigger apps (Garageband, iMovie) off to specialist iPads but they still try and update prompting messages about storage and updates. Is there any way to block updates on these iPads - mosyle/jamf/ etc aren't clever enough to see the space available and decide that the ios update is too big for this machine.

Which licence to allow remote users to change M365 passwords?
Scifigirl replied to kennysarmy's topic in Cloud Services
We set our Governors with cloud only accounts- not hybrid, as they don't need to log onto a computer. We are a hybrid school too -
Can anyone recommend a reliable Microsoft Licence Reseller?
Scifigirl replied to kwatt's topic in Licensing Questions
Don't forget the JISC agreement if you qualify ..... can take a good amount off -
Obligatory - mods if in wrong place please move Has anyone managed to do this - just came across it with a student that really does not need access to it. have blocked via cloud policies, but the app still shows this and i can't work out why? Setting the age range to minor blocks clipchamp itself (cause graph apparently needs an over 13 account Any help appreciated.

never use duplicate -- https://www.forbessolicitors.co.uk/articles/school-receives-reprimand-from-ico There was a similar one in the uk where an email pop up was seen by students but cant find it. Audio alerts for emails are fine however its the pop ups that get you. Extend

They do say, its best with 3 to 4 supernodes. We also demote all other devices from being nodes as we were finding that the nodes that the print jobs were being held on were laptops and things that don't stay on - there for print jobs were being "lost" or delayed by hours before being replicated and printed. Yes were are almost back to having a "print server"... almost negates the need. Also not having the ability to delete nodes is quite annoying - especially if they are personal machines of staff who left This stabilized our network a lot and now we don't lose things and can trouble shoot a lot easier.
-
Ours don't - however it has been known to lose connection if a computer went to sleep/hibernate - reboots usually solve it. Be careful of any profile config settings you have, unless your devices are one to one. deleting profiles deletes the tokens so they have to go through the rigmarole of installing again

Have you linked the printers to the users? i don't think it works without the agent being installed by the user part (well we couldn't get it to) requires admin rights to install
-
We had a locked out account today-- user wasn't disabled just locked. Figured out this was because of the number of failed logons - reset that in the main admin menu now.

i'm waiting for the issues surrounding permissions for different products, being managed in the main portal. the permissions for CPOMS are in no way the same as the permissions (problematic that it is) in staffsafe.

Usually happens if the backend email address doesn't match the one in the account - is it a newly married/divorced/name change person?
