I'm always amazed that it seems virtually nobody understands that one entrance is always marked differently on a mini roundabout to indicate priority if there is traffic waiting in all directions, I have this every day at the end of the road from school!

When they are teamed they don't generally use all the channels at once, it's more like an overflow/redundancy system where they will only utilise the other(s) when there is a need.

I seem to be missing a few months worth in some cases and I know they were there the week before as we run a report off every week. If your getting the run around using the CLI just download the whole config file via TFTP (or maybe the web interface) make you changes and upload again, this will however involve a reboot of the switch.

Well after some planning of how to get a more consistent use of staff codes and moving away from 2 to 3 letter staff codes and a special prefix for supply staff at the front (four digit code) I find out the following; Main SIMS supports 4 letter codes and Nova 6 will only let you put it in 3! Why is there this inconsistency! /rant off

I'm just going through a few what if situations here and I was wondering if you had some kind of corruption of your Nova files is it possible to extract the timetable back out of SIMS into Nova 6? I would obviously have back ups but I was also thinking of other situations like if the timetable was written in a 3rd party program and exported directly.

Root hint servers resolve the DNS names that your local DNS server can't unless you also use a forwarder for DNS resolution as a lot may do (your providers DNS server or maybe a GOogle one etc.) This list usually populates itself or is done via updates.

I had a lot of trouble with macros and SIMS output. One thing that made all the difference is making sure the newly created xls is in focus like it had been clicked on. At several points during my code I make sure it's still in focus before attempting an operation.

We usually get ours from the Tetrad factory outlet. The furniture usually has some kind of mark or imperfection on it (but I can never find one!)or is an order that wasn't shipped in the end etc. They make furniture for a lot of the big companies. The only thing is you just have to go and see on the Saturday what they have but the savings are substantial usually with 50% off not being uncommon in the past and cushions thrown in sometimes that cost £30-50 a piece.

I managed to get round to this today finally. It turns out that the AP in question was 100 % working and the switch was configured correctly. What strange behaviour was happening though is the laptops were all connecting to the AP on the floor above and two rooms over rather than the AP that was 3 feet away! The one upstairs is servicing a department who hadn't used their laptops recently so they hadn't noticed it wasn't working due to the switch config being missing (must not have wrote the changes to memory and they must have been switched off at some point). So if I turned the misconfigured one off and they connected to the correct one and worked first time. Changed the upstairs switch config and now they are all working but it seems to connect to the one upstairs first and then roam back to the local one! Anyway working for now. I would never have figured it out without the management system!

I've got a bit of a head scratcher here. Setup: Ruckus + Zone Director Domain joined laptops Settings via GPO, certificate and RADIUS It seems in one area of the building the laptops will not pick up an IP address if there isn't already one listed under address leases. If it already has an IP under address leases it will work. If I reserve an IP address it will work. There are plenty of IP addresses in the pool. If there are no entries at all wireshark shows the client never getting past DHCP discover. The wired clients have no trouble getting and IP address on the same switches. This works fine on other APS. If I get an IP address at another AP and switch on at the affected AP area it will work fine. All APs are configured the same. I have double checked the switch config against other switches and they are fine. Tagged in the two VLANs for the wireless and untagged in the default VLAN. All uplinks tagged accordingly (Procurve terminology) This was working up until recently. No activity from clients in the DHCP server log. Everything that can be restarted has been restarted. Swapped the AP with a known working one but still same issue. The clients definitely join the wireless network every time I have confirmed this via the Zone Director. That last one points to a network issue but with the other things that do work it's doesn't seem to be that straight forward. I'm going to start mirroring ports of the AP, then the uplink and the other end of the fibre to see what I can see. Any suggestions in the meantime?

We use security groups per department. Each department has a folder on a common area and within each folder there is a public folder (read everyone, write dept) for sharing resources and a departmental folder (read/write department only)

I just had another go at signing up today and it's in the same state as when I tried 2 months ago.

Thank you at least I know I'm not alone! Do you have any better ability to determine any errors with logs etc as I'm obviously limited to what I can look at from an upstream proxy point of view and I can't run traceroute as they have already requested.
