  1. I believe the website name is in reference to the Frankie goes to Hollywood song.
  2. If your struggling to back up any of your original arcade ROMS for use with an emulator let me know as I have a full set or get involved at http://www.pleasuredome.org.uk for a full working set.
  3. Yes, two steps forward and one back as usual
  4. They say no! It's not part of the package we're on (that they bought into) so it can't be done!
  5. If you are just using WDS for PXE booting then there is no advantage or disadvantage to having them on the same machine. I have MDT installed on my workstation with the share on a file server and another low use server provides WDS for PXE booting.
  6. Okay I have reached a solution for now, I have: Used MAC filtering and full client isolation on the Ruckus system. Created an ACL on our VLAN router to do the following: Allow only access to DNS and DHCP on the relevant servers Deny access to all other VLANS/Internal IP ranges Allowed only HTTP and HTTPS traffic So pretty much the same kind of security as you apply to your BYOD (apart from 802.1x). Improvements to implement later: Use DHCP and DNS on gateway router, rather than internal DNS and DHCP. Use more Ruckus restrictions such as restricted subnets etc. It would have been nice to use the OS restriction on the Ruckus as well but you only get a choice of the major OS to choose from. Hope my final solution helps someone as there's nothing worse than searching for these things and finding the question and not the answer!
  7. No I meant on the windows server side of things, using this method a device will send its MAC address as its user name and password so you would have to make sure those accounts were well locked down or deny them logon to your PCs etc.
  8. Passwords are basically plain text with enough user privileges. Our LEA uses LightSpeed so I don't have to worry about proxy addresses.
  9. I have some kindles to set up here they are an older model but not the one with the full keyboard. I have been experimenting with the best way to connect them to the WIFI. Our setup is Ruckus and NPS. I already have a BYOD using domain credentials and school owned devices using certificates pushed through GPO. I know that the Kindles' capabilities are fairly basic when it comes to this so I have been experimenting with the different ways of using MAC authentication. My choices seem to be: NPS - MAC authentication, account in AD and CHAP authentication, but I have to use reversible encryption on the password. This seems to be a long winded way when I could just use a list of MAC addresses on a Ruckus ACL, plus the reversible encryption is not desirable (but anyone who knows how this method works would know the password anyway!) Just use a MAC based ACL on the Ruckus equipment and use a VLAN ACL on my networking equipment so they can only access the internet so any MAC spoofing will only gain access to that VLAN. Anyone else using any different methods and possibly more secure methods?
  10. I think we got an upgraded version of ART at the time.

Thank you, hadn't spotted that and certainly didn't read about it anywhere! Worked first time on the HTML 5 one.

Before I go query BT Lancs is this thing working or not? It seems to have been broken for months now with browsers not supporting java or the client not working. I seem to keep going round in circles as when you install the client it tells you its the wrong version etc. Are there any notes anywhere on this or is it just plain broken?
  13. Don't suppose you have managed switches? The log on them would be the first thing to check otherwise depending on your physical topology you need to keep testing but start unplugging links and or whole switches until the timeouts dissapear then you can isolate it to a particular link or switch then you start unplugging the cables on that switch until you see an improvement.
  14. I use One Note synchronised with an Office 365 account. You can then delegate permissions to other users to access it so I have a local copy and one in the cloud. Sensitive information is stored on an encrypted VHD.
  15. This is the one issue about DPM that drives me crazy, I have even had some servers in the past that will not do a BMR backup to the DPM server but will do a one off no problem and the issue was not a lack of space on the DPM server as it had 2.5 times the total required. I have resized the partition in the past and it has worked and it has also made the backup fail every time with weird errors you don't normally see. As others have mentioned try changing the drive if possible or sometimes a previous one is corrupt and you need to delete the partial image off the local server. I do feel you pain though and it is the main reason I am considering an alternative backup solution.
  16. We're just trying to put some apps on some mobile devices, both Android and the other. We seem to get time out as if it's being blocked by LightSpeed but I can't find any evidence of this on the reporting or find a relevant category in the rule set. Can anyone advise on this? Should it just work as standard? Thanks, ChrisH
  17. I have been asked to upload the question level answers to Raise Online which looks like it should be straight forward but it isn't. I get the file from the NCA tools site which even calls it a Raise Online upload file and then go to Raise Online and attempt to upload it but always get an error no matter what options I select etc. Errors vary from cannot read a name to date of birth errors (there are no DOBs in the file!). There are no examples of the file format or anything. Has anyone had to do this and has any better instructions or tips?
  18. We use them and don't have many issues, any we do have they usually remote in and sort pretty promptly.
  19. Okay so it should be normal that someone in the class teacher group should be able to see this information in marksheet columns etc? As at the moment they don't seem to able able to see it, where as I can on the same marksheet.
  20. I'm just querying who should actually be able to see the PPI and LAC sections in either the student record or as the "Y" or "N" in the additional mark sheet columns. As far as I knew the teachers marksheets always showed the LAC indicator to them but for some reason it doesn't do now. I know access to updating the PPI is restricted to people with higher access but should that also be displayed to class teachers?
  21. I use Lightworks as well it only took me a day to get my head around it and I've never used anything more complicated than Movie Maker before.
  22. I think I managed to do it via the timeline once I clicked on the student in the list. It is flagged but I am able to select subbands etc.
  23. https://obsproject.com/ https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/how-to-set-up-your-own-private-rtmp-server-using-nginx.12891/#p30243 You can do pretty much anything with OBS by the look of it.
  24. I have already done the bulk promotion routine but we have a new student who I need to promote into the next year. I tried just adding them to the Group Memberships in Scheme in next years academic year but I cannot assign them a base band (cell is greyed out). Looking at the promotion routine it looks like it wants to start again so I clicked out of it as I don't want to mess up anything I have done already. What is the correct method of getting this started manually so I can assign next years baseband, subbands etc? Cheers Chris
