Glad it worked out for you I have this script on hand constantly, ever since someone accidentally emailed something private to All Staff and needed it definitively removing from mailboxes. You can use the commands above to search, but instead of all the -TargetMailbox stuff and everything after, you can just use -DeleteContent and it'll delete it forcibly--much more certain than Recall Message.

If you specify a mailbox in the Get-Mailbox command, it's only searching that mailbox, so you don't need to worry about To: If you also want to see messages they've sent, then it might turn up results from their sent folder (never tried--I always just grant permissions and check the mailbox), but if not then search all mailboxes and use from:[email protected]

Simple answer: give yourself full control over the mailbox and open it as a shared folder and just look. Always easier. Powershell method: if you want to do this for a single mailbox, and take copies into another mailbox of yours for review, the PowerShell you need is Search-Mailbox. Use something along the lines of: Get-Mailbox -Identity [testuser] | Search-Mailbox -SearchQuery subject:"email subject" -TargetMailbox [yourMailbox] -TargetFolder SearchLogs -LogLevel Full Replace [testuser] with the username (not the full email address, just what they use to log on to a domain PC) and [yourMailbox] with the mailbox you want the copy creating in. It'll make a folder called SearchLogs and (IIRC) a folder beneath that named for the user, and then the relevant items underneath. If you need to search all mailboxes, use Get-Mailbox -ResultSize unlimited before the pipe instead. -SearchQuery accepts all sorts of stuff: -SearchQuery body:"Here is a sentence from the email" -SearchQuery attachment:"invoice.pdf.zip" -SearchQuery from:"[email protected]" -SearchQuery received:"11/17/2014..11/18/2014" # [uses American MM/DD/YYYY] and you can mix and match parameters by enclosing everything in single quotes and using an AND operator Search-Mailbox -SearchQuery 'subject:"email subject" AND from:"[email protected]" AND received:"11/17/2014..11/18/2014"'

I am still exhausted this morning, because I went round a friend's on Saturday for a final night of beer 'n' video games with 3 of us before the arrival of his son next month. After some traditional Mario Kart & Smash Bros. fun, we switched to Rocket League about midnight. First time I've played it. Nice to have some legal precedent for our AUP, then. We've always said we can access all staff & student data, files & emails, but we'l only do so with appropriate authority: for students, if a teacher asks; for staff, if a member of SMT asks, and I always get that in writing. Not sure where we'd stand on personal email, but practically we wouldn't have an easy way of accessing it anyway. I suppose anything supremely dodgy would get picked up by Securus, and that monitoring is in the AUP as well.

Ooh yes, finally saw The Martian this weekend and thought it utterly marvellous. They trimmed the book down very intelligently, kept it light-hearted, but thoroughly engrossing. Goosebumps at the end. Also tried to watch Tomorrowland but it was so dull, so much like a Disney Channel movie (complete with bland/annoying actors), that we turned it off after an hour and went to bed. It'll be a problem for the Pastoral team, from all the anonymous cyberbullying I expect it will kick up at home, but they have indeed automatically geo-blocked UK schools, so it doesn't work while you're on site where it would be an IT problem. Which is astonishingly thoughtful and useful of them, and does rather endear me towards the developers.

I set this up three and a half years ago and I have never once had a single problem that could be traced back to it. It's been completely fire & forget in that regard, although very useful on a regular basis

Wild Card: Jason Statham plays a man who has to stand around and listen to a lot of maid-and-butler dialogue ("Well as you know, Jason, we agreed two days ago that you'd pretend to get beaten up by me so I could impress a girl...") and then goes off to get a revenge when a girl he knows is stuffed in a fridge and we turned it off after twenty minutes because it was awful. Bought Never Alone and Grim Fandango Remastered in the Steam sale, even though I never have any time to play games at all anymore, but I've failed to complete GF twice thanks to PC bugs so I would like that sense of closure, thx. Played The Vanishing of Ethan Carter over the break. It is so, so, so, so pretty, and so sad, but still hasn't solved the problem of how to merge "walking simulator" with "game elements" elegantly. It was well worth the three hours, though, and a fine choice for my favourite of all my Christmas traditions, "shut the man cave door and get drunk and play an indie game through in one sitting".

Doing my own audio-recordings is something I've thought about, but is way down my long list of writing jobs at the moment. Currently going back over everything I've got from the last two or three years, revising as best I can now manage, and sending it all out for submission again, but once it's settled down a bit I may well give it a go. I think we have some decent condensor mics in school I could borrow for the job. The ideal solution is to just sell my stories into Clarkesworld, Lightspeed, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, Strange Horizons, or any of the other pro markets that produce a podcast edition. Or sell the reprint to Podcastle/Escape Pod/Drabblecast/Starship Sofa. There's a surprisingly healthy amount of audio short fiction available. I just need 'em to buy my stories!

Yeah, I know... but given that it's mostly for stories (and mostly for fantasy, I expect), I deliberately wanted to evoke books with a serif font. I'm choosing form over function, and I know I am, I'm only hoping I can get away with it (not that my earlier font-choice helped there). And of course! Thoroughly remiss of me. This is what happens when I write blog posts late at night and off-the-cuff instead of properly thinking them through. My only memories of a late uncle's wedding day are (a) it was Star Wars day (b) I spent the whole time going through a Lone Wolf book. I should totally rewrite to use CYOA as the second-person example.

I have spent a very great deal of time denying this point. Somewhere around 2 years. Because that font is beautiful! It's characterful! It's a Goudy font to match the header! The ampersand is gorgeous! But you're right. For all its looks, it's not actually that readable as a body font. /sigh So I've reset all the body text in Lora, which is more interesting than Book Antiqua (the fallback font in my CSS), but a bit more straightforward. It also has a bold weight available, which I'm using for hyperlinks instead of italicising now; makes 'em stand out a bit more. So hopefully it's better now. Thank you for the intervention. Clearly I needed it.

So entirely by accident, today I discovered that if you select a range of dates in Outlook's mini-calendar (top left), it will display exactly those dates in the main view--e.g. click and drag over two dates to see appointments for those two days.

Cached Exchange mode is greyed out for me under account settings, though, and as far as I can recall always has been during profile setup.
