Does anyone use the Paxton Net2 Pro software to print there staff ID cards, basically is it any good? I have tested a couple of independent print packages for our card printer a Magicard Rio Pro but I liked the idea of enrolling the staff onto the door security system at the same time as printing there security ID. Our reseller didn't have any trial software so though I would ask if anyone has found it good enough? Any experiences welcomed. Rob

I've been running the controller on a server R2 core VM since the summer without issue. I'm running it as a service which is the recommended method and its been very stable. Remember, for automatic upgrading of the controller to work you have to stop the service and run the GUI and then rerun the service. This doesn't effect end clients whitest this is happening only when you let the controller start upgrading AP's. Otherwise I'm very impressed, version 3.0 is bringing some real improvements to load balancing of clients and better roaming including VoIP optimisations if you use that. Its not the most feature rich system, I've even seen a video review recently which put it very low down compared to some of the bigger boys performance wise. But we have found performance and range to be brilliant (using Pro Units) we have classrooms of 30+ laptops logging on without issue very fast. Our deployment is replacing a non managed system of 70 APs which has served us well with over 250+ wireless users normally online at any one time!! Not perfect for everyone but its been brilliant for us, we're self installing so its a very cost effective system.

I've been recommending to friends bulbs using CREE LEDs on eBay and we've had go success plus the price point is much much cheaper and better quility than you'll often find on the high street. eBay Search Link however there mainly directional light bulbs. 1. Synology 2. QNAP Have used both, use QNAP at work for iSCSI storage for DMP backup system (speed is amazing considering the price point) and Synology at home for its feature rich and fantastic web GUI . I just wanted something simple and easy to use and Synology fitted that.

Can it also handle public shared folders as well as home directories? Rob

What did you end up doing in the end? I'm currently logging into running local VMs with shared access to there documents to save work then on reboot the VM is wiped ready for the next user.

I took a look with the teacher but we couldn't find anything without the password on it, looks like he done the work and passworded all in the same lesson! I think the lad is re-doing the work, that will teach him hopefully!

No luck, its hit the trial limit. Depends if the school wants to invest in the software to continue with the brute force approach but that could take sometime with no guarantees! Thanks for the suggestions guys!

Great, the files are 128bit encrypted!! Running Elcomsoft's Advanced Office Password Recovery on an AMD GPU at the moment, 47k passwords a second, lets hope one works!!

Can anyone recommend a password cracking tool for Office 2010 documents, explicitly PowerPoint and Excel. A student who left decided it would be a smart idea to lock his files, however now we need to get into his files for external moderation but we don't know the password. We phoned the student in question but he has forgotten...! Any suggestions welcomed!! TIA, Rob

I recently purchased one of these Auto V1.5 Bluetooth CAN-BUS Diagnostic interface scanner tool OBD2 OBDII ELM327 | eBay brilliant for the money! Came with an interesting CD of software for Windows, Android, WinMob and Symbian!? Worked with my MR2 Roadster and diagnosed an EML which on its own was brilliant, I used the free version of Torque which I was so impressed with ended up purchasing the full version for less than £3. I also tried it on my Mini Cooper S and I love PSI readings from the supercharger it’s a geek’s toy and handy tool combined!

At the moment I'm working on using there MSI’s for deployment it was the license activation that was stumping me. I could easily have dealt with the dongles but I don’t want to visit a machine more than once else I’m doing something wrong otherwise!

@neilmc How did you deploy Cubase, did you just run the MSI's already on the disks? Our version has come without dongles and now with a software e-licence which is a pain as its looking like I'm going to have to activate each machine!!

Another +1 vote for the headphones and Hills both brillant. Headphones have lastest very well (12months+) and look and sounds very good for the price.

Again another vote for Xibo setup here using some old laptops (batteries removed) and then using WOL and scheduled tasks to turn on and off is perfect. The money saved I spent on a decent high end digital signage panel from LG and the quality is exemplary!

Yes they do have 5GHz AP's but they cost a bit more from what I have seen, have a talk with 4gon they also offer educational discounts too.

@sidewinder I think a round double bed would fit!
