I also ruled out VSAN's as far to expensive at present, we're going down a hyper converged route with JBODS, Storage Spaces and Hyper-V all in a cluster. Looking forward to this solution in the next version of Windows Server, this should give us much better disaster avoidance with our two jbods and two server locations onsite. Doesn't affect Windows 10, not sure about 8.1. I've rolled back for now so all is good, not checked yet to see if a fix has been rolled out.

URGENT - Anyone having issues with 11.1.2510 of Avast? It breaks SMB and thus machines cannot connect to network shares (bit of an issues on a network) uninstalling or rolling back restores network connectivity!! Note: Appears to only be affecting Windows 7 machines/ Win10 is ok.

These are the ones I've been waiting for too, first gen AC wasn't geared towards densely populated clients but hopefully these should be as solid as the N ones.

Looking forward to getting a couple of these units to try out! Got band steering trailing at home on an older UAP Pro unit (N) and has made a big improvement to my phone and laptops connection speed!

I guess the minimum node count make sense as the workload would be split on the remaining. I've just ordered 2x 12Gig SAS JBOD arrays like @AButters will be using a mixture of SSD and 10K SAS drives with MS storage spaces to make a SoFS cluster for my hyper-v workloads. Looking forward to using storage spaces direct on my older sever with large DAS. Be interesting if I could tier that into my JBOD pools! Will have to investigate.

Any news on this said patch @PhilNeal, summer release fast approaching would be nice to know we can upgrade into native 2014 mode!

Sounds like its failing to create the Reason License Agreement.dat in the ProgramData folder ([LocalSystemDisk]:\ProgramData\Propellerhead Software\Reason). I made an MSI that copied this across after the installer ran. Also made sure the soundbank files have copied ([LocalSystemDisk]:\ProgramData\Propellerhead Software\Soundbanks) otherwise it will try and download them.

Not seen that before Hillc. Have far do you get running the software, I assume you are past user accept agreement screen and selecting run multi licence version? Rob

I may be wrong (I haven't checked) but doesn't save the configuration onto some internal memory as well as the raid... I've transplanted disks before to different units when I had to send mine back to QNAP but I'm sure it back it up internally as well.....

Our clients are locally installed, takes about a 1-2 seconds via a wireless laptop. 5 seconds isn't that bad surely?

Did you get this working, I trying to open ports from my BYOD network and Google I'm opening so many ports but still no joy. Might have a do a traffic capture to figure out what ports I need.

I would recommend Axis hands down for cameras, they are of rock solid build quality and reliability and the feature set is brilliant, expensive but worth the extra IMHO. We use a QNAP QVR for the recording side of things which have also been very good and easy to use set and forget appliance. The latest software version 5 is a big improvement over the old. Another thing the Axis and also Mobotix cameras do is edge recording to SD card, SD cards are cheap these days and although you'll spend more on the camera it will save having large RAID arrays for storage. I can also recommend the 360 degree hemispheric cameras, we have replaced some wall mount dome cameras for these in low ceiling corridors and they have been amazing, no where for the offender to hide plus they look very much like smoke alarms so very inconspicuous. Outside I've used Raymax Infra-red LED illuminators, they are the best and can be PoE powered and even controlled if you like that sort of thing!

Did you say you're paying a couple of thousand for the P2P? is that PA? Just wondered if someone like Ubiquiti airFiber might be better long term.

We solved that problem by getting rid of them all in favour of photocopiers! (well a couple are used in special cases as they work grate for USB plug n play) Thanks for the heads up though.
