  1. We have started to use EOP for our exchange server. We have setup all the mailflow and connectors to and from office 365. However, we have run into some issues with Smoothwall. Smoothwall will not port forward, port 25 to the Exchange server unless the SMTP Relay is turn on. ( we have all the port forwarding setup on Smoothwall) This is having a massive problem as Smoothwall still thinks it the SMTP relay sending out emails. So we have two IP addresses sending out emails. (big no no in emailing terms) Has anyone else got this setup? if so does it work?
  2. We have just gone through a massive tender process with meru, Aruba, ruckus, meraki, HP, and Samsung. Yes I said Samsung. Deploying 147 access points and 2 physical controllers. Meru very expensive, they wanted to put twice as many APs as everyone else. Was 100% sure about single cell architecture. Meraki very feature rich product, all the bells and whistles. Price competitive external APs very ugly. Samsung and HP just rubbish. Aruba very feature rich, price competitive same amount of APs as Meraki and ruckus. However, when you start adding all of the licences together to get same feature set as Meraki become very expensive. Ruckus offers AC 2. With the R710 feature rich little bit more expensive when you add all the features in. But we didn't need all of them. APs internal an external brilliant. Went with a really good company easy to install and expand. After much arguing and discussions, we went with ruckus. Far better APs and with the new GUI coming out next year going to be easy to manage. As this is what I need as my techies aren't the quickest at picking things up.
  3. JHLEHS, HAP+ or Foldr?
  4. Hi just seen a great bit of software for Mac/IPAD etc.... its called foldr and allows you to access your Schools files from anywhere. Does anyone use it, or got any alternative?
  5. I would have to say that having used both, VMware is a clear winner for me. i am not 100% sure but i think the essentials plus covers the VSAN. going to check. The cost saving of having to buy a SAN is massive. Purchased mine over a year, ago at a cost of £40,000. A VSAN would save me £1000's

    VSAN

Not sure this is the best place to put this! Is anyone using VSAN in production yet? found this thread but no replies http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows/137030-vmware-vsan.html
  7. We are in the process of having one now, from SCS. Was really worried about it. Even though i know we are 100% correct. They have done the following Asked me to fill out an audit form, network diagrams, software agreements, budget expenses, ICT asset document, helpdesk analysis, Development reports interviewed staff and pupils on what they would like to see come out of the ICT development plan Interviewed SLT on what involvement they have interviewed Staff on skill set etc.... Will let you know the out come when i get it.
  8. You can put servers IP address into the exceptions and that will allow the server to bypass smoothwall. Guardian -> Web filter -> exceptions . Change proxy port on server to 801. Server will then bypass smoothwall.
  9. Download a program called angry ip, it will scan your network and tell you every devices IP Address, MAC address etc.... If you can't identify the switch from that, turn everything off apart from your server and switch, then it just process of elimination.
  10. We just got a vnx 5300 with 30TB, very happy. we had quotes from net app, IBM, 3PAR, Dell. Performance wise and flexibility EMC where miles ahead. Price was competitive to. Let me know if you want some more info. We used a company called softcat, very professional and honest.
  11. What out for grey imports. A lot of these companies buy stock from projects abroad which have over purchased. HP, Cisco won't support them in the uk.
  12. Looking to work with a firm call buyers buddy. Anyone had any experience with them. Good or bad!
