  1. Why not one Forest and then 2 sub domains if you’re really worried about security or someone else is more to that fact. Also 'if' a student etc does get one of the domain passwords it only affects that domain. Unless they get the Enterprise domain admin password! Just a though.
  2. Don't know if you’re running R2 on your servers or not (I’m sure this tool was available for 'normal' versions as well) Printer Management MMC
  3. Works, defiantly need to manual install it first then make the reg file. Cheers Nick! 8)
  4. Thanks Nick i'll give that a try!!
  5. It's driving me mad this program and trying to get it to install all the content on the machine, let along get it to register a shared folder! Can I please ask if anyone has any joy with this program and what they did to get it to install remotely, its driving me mad!!
  6. Cheers guys, think i've got some calling to do!
  7. What do you recon there support for the N when it does eventual pass come out properly. The Trapeze system they recon you won't need a new managed switch just upgrade your APs.
  8. Thanks Ric! I will get intouch with them and see what they can come up with, think ill get a site survey done then probbly install the kit myself. (Keep costs down) How much did all 25 AP's and Switch etc come too out of intrest if you dont mind! Thanks again, Rob
  9. I need some advice, we really need to invest in our wireless network (i know what some of you are thinking) I’m looking for a managed wireless network via a central switch and using dumb AP's. Can anyone recommend systems apart from CISCO? We use 3COM switches I know they do a managed system but don’t think it much hack; Trapeze Networks i have been told are very good better than 3COM and cheaper than CISCO. Any advice much appreciated!! Rob
  10. Yes im not so keen on CC3 idea myself. Yes we want to integrate the Admin and Curr systems together and run Integris on that same server. (There management system) I do like the idea of thin client; I might offer them that as a wild card idea, if there third local company doesn’t come back with a good solution. Backup shouldn’t be too back, was using an AIT3 tape, Ergo's idea was external hard drives.
  11. What about video with the whiteboard, i like thin client idea, but can never see it being used for whole school, surely?
  12. They already have fat client machines, and they wish to use these within the new network. They have and RM School Share at the moment, but that’s completely buggered!!
  13. Dell's not a bad idea, just got a grate price on a new server from them. Ill give them a call! Cheers.
  14. I have been giving a local very small primary school some help recently to find a network solution for them. We had 2 quotes done one with RM (yes I know) and one with Ergo. Ergo came out a lot cheaper so there governors have decided they want a third quote. Can anyone recommend another provider, I know could quote simply do a vanilla network but these people are not that computer literate and I don’t have much time to spend helping them all the time. A managed package would be much better for them as they can get the support they need when they need it. Any suggestions much appreciated! Rob
  15. I would also be intrested in trying this!!
  16. Do you have any examples of this type of script, would be really handy!
  17. Hi People, Been setting up my windows 2k3 vpn server and used connection manager administration kit to create my service profile so my users can run that to setup the vpn connection on there home machines. Stupid problem I’m having is this works fine, BUT doesn't install on machines that don't have modem cards. (Dial-up) that right folks!! It defaulting to trying to dial an internet connection first, even though it has a permanent network connection! On a machine that it will allow me to install it on (one with a modem) I have to un-tick the box to dial connection first and then it works perfectly after that!! UGHH Does anyone have any idea what I’m missing or what i could be doing wrong, all the users i know that will be using this have LAN internet connections. Sorry if this is a stupid question but do you hate when something so simple really annoys you!! Many thanks in advance Rob
