Thanks plexer, I did look at some of the guest features, but to be honest if I want guest/sixth form/staff access ill probably set it up using windows radius then they can just use their normal AD credentials. I take it you have an implantation yourself, how do you find it, performance good, reliable etc?

The Inifi kit looks really good, a quick question. Does the AP handle all the traffic onto the local LAN or does it all get routed back to the controller, also if the controller is down for whatever reason, will the AP continue to handle traffic? Cheers, Rob

Done it, ok well not exactly an MSI but I found how to script the install silently. Install the software on a machine with the camera attached, you need to be very quick because as soon as the desktop shortcut is shown, copy the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\USB2.0 UVC WebCam\ (change appropriate drive letters, program files directory) to somewhere safe, desktop will do. I found if you waited two long, the driver installers get deleted! Within that directory you'll have the camera Easi-View software (Easi-View.exe) and then below that another folder called DriverPackage, within here are two driver installers called DPInst32.exe and DPInst64.exe. These two executables will install the drivers needed for the camera, what we done was copy using a script the folder back into program files on each machine and then run the DPInst64.exe to install the drivers, that’s it! The software will run nice without being installed and bonus you lose that stupid red cross program in the taskbar!! Hope that’s of help to anyone, Rob

If you get the Post Office Broadband to take over the current tents line, you can then swap straight away to any other provider as you’re not tied into any 12/18 month contracts. This was brilliant when I moved into my first house and didn’t already have a provider but had to have a BT line in order to take up the offer I wanted at the time.

Looks like that software isnt around anymore...

Did anyone manage to find a way of capturing an msi or even commanding the exe in some way? Any help appreciated, Rob

All our staff laptops have Bluetooth that’s the most universal way, but if the phone supports mass storage then that’s always quicker and the student can obviously do it themselves then.

+1 really, I’m also starting to suffer with this problem and its defiantly come about since we went Win7 x64 and moved our printserver over to 2008R2. I've had so many problem with the printer only printing the first page then stopping, I think I've finally managed to get that working using the HP universal driver but not its starting to repeatedly go offline. Does anyone have the URL to this 'beta firmware'? Rob

I just wished Xibo would download the template and images on my Win7 clients, ahh! The file downloads them instantly disappears! Might have to go back to XP at this rate!

I also use DPM 2010 with 2x QNAP boxes connected via iscsi to provide the disk storage, very good solution which we are very happy with. Speed is very good and we back up some massive VMs (Hyper-V) and video files without issue. Note that DPM although is only a backup server can be resource hungry sometimes.

We have 1600 mailboxes over 3 vms in total about 12gb of RAM and all working very nicely.

@randle only reason I ask we had some real problems with the 6000's once we moved to Windows 7 (x64) and they don’t even support the HP universal driver. It’s a very odd printer. The universal driver is good, we did have problems with an earlier version being very slow to load but that appears to have been fixed, the other option is driver isolation if you decide to run a 2k8R2 printserver. Where are you based in Chelmsford anyway?

Not got an HP 6000 by any chance?

BigBlueButton looks good, wonder how stable it would be running on hyper-v.

QNAP system is also web based though you do have to load a plug-in into the browser! But what I most like is when our Head (yes it’s that easy) wants to save the video she’s found, the downloaded file is just a .wmv so no complicated codecs.

I use a 8TB QNAP surveillance box (QNAP Systems, Inc. ( Products - Surveillance ) - Quality Network Appliance Provider) for recording from 12 Axis HD camreas including audio, very impressed with image quality and most importantly, very easy to setup. All POE powered, got our local cabling company to install the cameras I just done the final tweaking, all in about 5k. I have been looking at the Mobotix 180 degree cams's, is the image quality good then for people who have them setup? Rob

Yes I was not best pleased, I though OfficeJet's should be capable as DeskJets with networking are 'workgroup' printers for sure. Only the 8000 is a proper network printer in that range.

Don't know if that would help, I'm fine connecting over the network to the printers and printing, its just when the client connects to the printer share on the server, thats when the trouble begins.
