Had a word with my supplier and he's gotten hold of MS and they've acknowledged it's a bit of a "grey area" at the moment. MS are giving me a call next week directly to discuss it and best way forward so will let you guys know what the result of. My own opinion is if we're fully covered for Office under EES and students get the iPAD access free under ProPlus staff should also get the same access which is what I'll put across to them.

Other solution is loop back processing on the OU the servers are in. We have separate GPOs for our RDS Servers.

Looking at the bottom of the page for my first link I believe you are still eligible for Student ProPlus if you have ProPlus "institution-wide for all your faculty/staff". Unsure if you can get license for that through EES. Believe you can.

Is that 1.70 * FTE? Or 1.70 * FTE * 12 months? Also are we entitled to downgrade rights if we purchase ProPlus subscriptions for all Staff?

At the moment our students have ProPlus licenses assigned in Office 365 which enables them to sign in and use the Office 365 iPad Apps. Staff only have the A2 licenses which I believe allows them to view documents in the app but not edit or create them. What's the cheapest and easiest way to get Staff able to use the iPad apps? I assume assigning them ProPlus licenses is illegal as they are designed for Students only. So are there are alternatives apart from purchasing A3 licenses for staff? Yeah first thing I did after making that post was bring up the console and tried a IPCONFIG and realised the error of my ways! Cheers.

Just got 10 of these although slightly different model... C50-A-1E2. Will PXE boot fine once I've disabled Secure Boot and UEFI. Will download the boot image and start to load. Shows the Win8 Splash Screen and then shows the SCCM 2012 Wall Paper and "Windows is Starting Up" in a Dialogue Box. Dialogue box disappears and then sites with just the SCCM Wallpaper for about 30 seconds before restarting. Any ideas?

Assuming they are roaming profiles you can delete (or move them somewhere else is probably better just in case) the profiles from the server so they have to start a fresh next time.

That simple huh? Assume it doesn't cause any other side effects or issues with e-mail or anything? I only ask because despite the external domain name not being user internally we still have e-mail accounts created based on the external domain name. Just want to be sure before I go hacking around!

We don't user roaming profiles for this very reason. We've also disabled being able to save to the desktop so the only place they can save work to is their Documents area. If they have been saving work to the desktop then deleting the old profiles is going to cause issues for obvious reasons.

* We have an old internal domain name that was provided to us by our old LEA. * Our Office 365 Site has been created using our new external Domain Name. My understanding is that we can't use DirSync if the UPN for the users doesn't match the Domain name added on Office 365. Can anyone confirm and what's the best way to get round this??

The great thing about VMs is that you can change the resources allocated to the VMs on the fly.

2x CPU 4GB Ram Is what we use. Runs ok.

Morning Guys, From time to time when students log into workstations they will get stuck on the "welcome" message for a long time. Anywhere between 10-30 minutes. Event viewer doesn't seem to indicate any issues and it seems to be completely hit and miss when it happens. We thought we'd narrowed it down to computers that hadn't been powered off properly previously but that doesn't seem to match the pattern any more. Anyone else experienced this at all?

Basically we want to take advantage of the Student Advantage scheme to enable students to download and install office off site at home. * We want to keep e-mails onsite using our exchange server and just use O365 to enable them to access Office from home. * We have already signed up for O365 online with A3 licenses and associated our domain (DNS side is done and it's been verified however it's currently in the process of being validated as an educational domain and we will move to the free A2 licensing when the trial period is up) * We've got 1500 MS O365 Pro Plus Licenses added to our EES from our reseller (have the Open Value Order Confirmation e-mail but nothing else). So basically... for want of a better way to explain it... Now What? * How do we for want of a better word "activate" Student Advantage on our O365 set up? * How do we get student accounts in O365 in the first place? * How do we make sure these accounts have access to Office via SA to download for home use? * Assume there's some kind of tool that enables Office to grab user accounts from AD - (Is this is fabled ADFS I've heard so much about)? The more you know... I went straight from WDS to SCCM and bypassed MDT. I always assumed it was just an add-on for WDS!

Hi, Could you elaborate on this please? At the moment our student home areas are just named after their username so for example a user with the name "student" would have a home area in a folder called "student"

I remember a similar issue with drivers for our older Dell Machines where we had to have a separate boot image because the standard USB Drivers were "too new". We had to force it to use drivers from about 6 years ago for KB+M to work lol.

Hey Guys. I have ZERO experience with Macs so bare with my terminology here. Some of it is definitely going to be flaky. I'm trying to help out a colleague here with a problem we're having with our new Mac Suite. Current Setup =========== * Macs joined to the domain running Mavericks. * Home Areas on Server 2008r2 file server. * Domain running @ 2008r2 Functional Level. * Users log into Macs using their AD credentials. What is a nice easy way to add a link to a Students Home Area (on windows Server 2008r2) in the Finder side bar under Favourites? Can we grab this info from the Home Folder field in AD? Believe we can script it at logon using the DSCL command and the AD Plug In but all the documentation on it is pretty hard going to work out exactly what we need to do to get it working. At the moment we have a shortcut in the dock however when in applications when they try and save this doesn't give us much help as they can't save to it! They have to save to desktop them copy to the shortcut in the dock which isn't ideal. If anyone has any experience with this it would be very well received!

I know it's frustrating. I've had similar issues in the past. Are you using the Vista version of the drivers? I usually have better luck with them than Windows 7 because Windows PE is based on Vista. Also how are you added the drivers to the image out of curiosity? That might also be the issue.
