  1. We've just bought some Samsung NC130's for our Student Lease2Own scheme, and they seem pretty good.
  2. It all depends on the number of licences / spec of the box or software version your after. Its built up bit by bit to give you the cost. We can probably give you a ball park figure, but probably best speaking to smoothwall direct.

    FITS

I am in a similar position to you, I want to start looking more closely at the FITS solution but I am aware that they are having a rethink with the current version and will be looking to release an update - not sure when. Does anybody have any idea?
  4. We use Adobe Premiere Elements here as an alternative to Movie Maker.
  5. We only have VNC installed on the student curriculum machines - I decided against installing it on office / headteachers PC for this very reason.
  6. Its a script with our moodle theme, as Edu-IT has said if you do a google search theres 100's.
  7. Nothing much to say about it to be honest. I've only sent the student data off and thats about it - never heard anything to say its not working so I guess it must be fine? You had problems with it?
  8. If its BSF build, it will be in some posh data centre
  9. We've never had any issues with Canon Camcorders and Movie Maker. These are the latest model we have bought and work spot on - Canon MD215.
  10. I've not used it, but this should allow you to transfer your existing printer queues from the old printer server. http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsServer2003/techinfo/overview/printmigrator3.1.mspx I think personally I would recreate them all again manually as this would allow you to ensure you have the latest drivers etc installed - it all depends on how much time you have for the switch over I guess.
  11. A little bit of snow has just started falling on our website, good to get into the christmas mood. St. Bede's Catholic School and Sixth Form College - Welcome
  12. DVD or NAS but agree with the above.
  13. We allow our students / staff access to our wireless network which is on a seperate VLAN to the rest of the network via a Smoothwall UTM. This way the network is segregated away from the wireless network but also all internet activity is logged per user.
  14. We had / have the exact same issue here with our smoothwall box with a rogue adobe update installer, can't remember how we fixed it to be honest but it was probably via help by smoothwall support.
  15. We had a couple of boards spiking - updated the firmware and all is now fine again.
  16. Is the shortcut for title 1 mounting the VCD? It needs to look something like this: "C:\Program Files\H+H\Virtual CD 4\System\vcdcmd.exe" /i V:\Pilote1\Pilote1.vc4 U: /x U:\StartMe.exe
  17. I must admit I've not watched it prior to the christmas special which was on the other night, it was pretty good so i'll be putting the Series 1 and 2 DVD's on my christmas list.
  18. Seems to work OK here... well the exam officer hasn't mentioned anything and I have seen him use it.
  19. A relative ordered from these and it took around 10 days for the software to arrive.... eventually.
  20. I use the same model server here with no issues.
  21. Is this what you mean? http://www.pcrush.com/images/hi-res/88628.jpg
  22. These costings are from a while ago so they may have changed and will depend on the size of your school. School Setup - £100 one of cost Annaul Subscription - based on £200 per school then £1 per student Internet Transaction cost - £0.10p per transaction purchased in packs of 1,000 (£100 each) Bank Transaction cost - £0.12p per transaction / £0.19 for LLoyds Bank
  23. Thanks Tony I certainly agree with what your saying. I'm interested in going, it just depends on travel arrangements, its a fair trek to Derbyshire or London from Durham especially if its a 9:00AM start.
  24. No idea if this will be any good or not, but I thought I would post it anyway. I might try and get more information on it and see if its worth the £245. London: 7th December 2009 Derbyshire: 5th March 2010 Status: Confirmed Residential: Yes Objectives and learning outcomes: Supporting curriculum innovation challenges traditional IT support strategies and structures. Feedback from schools suggests that many feel there is still a gulf between innovative curriculum development and IT support structures that enable and empower such innovation. This event provides curriculum and IT support leaders with an opportunity to explore strategy, policy, innovative practice, challenges and current thinking from schools who have begun to change the culture of IT support. .
