Morning Guys, Looking for a more cost effective solution to the RM one. Granted the spec needs to be meaty for running photoshop in our art department so spec'ing up an RM one its still coming in at over £1,000 per workstation (core i7 and 4gb RAM). These workstations would need to run Win XP SP3, require dual output (they may at sometime connect to an IWB) and build seemlessly onto a CC3/future CC4 network. There has to be a more cheaper option recommended out there! Look forward to your feedback and tips!

lol, not as confused as we were - we can only reckon instead of telling us that "the version of photoshop is not compatable with leopard", he has taken an older image of Tiger OS with PS7 installed and forced them over the network onto the iMacs via a deploy studio workflow, which would explain for their unstability. After calling Apple support asking which OS version goes with the serial number we now can confirm his work was completely unethical lol.

Guys, I am putting out an appeal to you guys good nature. A former employee at our school has mashed up our macs in Art, somehow without our knowledge managed to force an image of Tiger onto our Leopard Macs using deploy studio. This image contained Adobe photoshop 7. The leaving present from this employee was leaving our macs in art continually looping and all known good images gone We now have taken the 4 macs out of the room and rebuilt them to Leopard as they should have done, but now obviously PS7 will not run on Leopard. Our imacs and G4s are going to replaced hopefully soon with a full suite of Win PC's, but where the proverbial has hit the fan is that we need the macs urgently because of exams and mocks coming up. We used this persons "superior mac knowledge" as gospel when setting all these up. What I need to ask if any kind soul has 4 unused licences for Photoshop 8 or another legacy version that will run on Leopard for that short period until we decommision the macs. If anyone could please help us could you please PM me asap:(

We had issues not dissimilar to yours. We reflashed the TC with the latest version of thinconnect (if your using HP TC's), ran a delprof.exe on all the terminal servers and restarted. It seemed to do the trick. Keep me informed

Good morning lovely peeps, We have just had a company in to set up a very basic on line reporting system for our girls. At the moment it pulls attendance info, based on the girls LDAP credentials. Now our stumbling block is trying to think of a way to incorporate parental log ins. Now with over 1,200 girls at school manual account creation is out the picture and struggling to come up with a good way to bulk produce parental logins and to get them to reference their childs data? Yep we have the same issue with Kyocera 5200dn printers. Sometimes they keep coming out with a page with an error code on it. Deffo lack of RAM issue i'm afraid.

Hi Webman, has your policy been rolled out now and how are staff taking to it? I understand that there may be the isolated case of some teachers may not have internet or laptops at home, but is there really any need for the majority to have two? Like I said I would love to issue each member of staff a home user license agreement the one which costs around 8 quid to install on their own kit and supply them with 2 USB sticks to transfer and keep a back up of docs. We have well in excess of 300 workstations within the school that can be used utilized more effectively!

same here - some accounts working fine, others not, coming up with the server cannot be reached message. A few weeks ago, this happened to only one user at our school and it took over a week to recover her mailbox as it suffered massive corruption.

Oh and yes we are CC3/XP at the moment

Hi Rad, Thanks for the response. Yep we intend to do the big jump, make the school fit for the future, with the possibilty of refreshing all the out of warranty workstations in the school with new RM ones (i5 core with 4gb ram in each). I will be pushing to get all new machines with a 5 year self care warranty and refresh every 5 years to keep abreast of the latest tech for the girls here. CC4 and win 7 at the same time would be the icing on the cake

Hi Guys, we are looking to migrate to CC4/Win 7 possibly in about a years time we are still at the planning stage and I could do with advice on the biggest hurdle to overcome...teachers laptops Now as a school we have around 120 ish teachers and support staff with laptops which just will not cut the mustard. The school just like any other just doesn't have the funds to replace them. Things were fine under the "laptops for teachers" scheme, which doesn't exist anymore and the the consensus in the school is that nearly everyone newly employed waltzes straight to the IT dept for their laptop. I am going to be highly popular within the school as of next year, but was just wondering how other schools have managed similar processes i.e. MS Office home user license's etc for teachers on their own home kit yada yada yada..... Any advice given would gratefully received!

we just create a new computer on AD, build machine to vanilla, create an admin log in for us, make the user an admin user so they can get updates automatically and join the domain checking that the log in scripts for the mapped drives. I must state we do this only for out SMT, Office & Bursar staff
