Just wondering if any kind soul has a spare DVD-RW drive and front fascia for an RM CL51 model laptop. My boss has agreed that its out of date and I can spruce it up and give it to my son (as is its first, I was looking for cheap!). I have removed a DVD RW from another model, but the fascia is different and looks completely odd. If anyone can help could they please PM me - Thanks! Regards, AJT

Hi Guys, Still running an xpsp2 RM CC3 network and over the summer, we started to roll out IE8 and SP3 to the site. When rebuilding machines, the RM package control took a wee bit of an "eppy" and we were continually manually restarting machines run installrm etc to every machine (so far we only tested this out on one classroom taking a day and a half to build it!) I am looking at the package install sequence or maybe a hotfix which is knocking it silly, but nothing is jumping out at me? Is there anyone else suffered this issue that could help me rectify? Maybe letting me know of your sequence of packages pushed out at main site etc? Please help meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee lol:confused: Regards AJT

Hi Guys, Trying to build a new clean VM image on our CC3 network for package building and have run into a brick wall. I have tried an RM OS disk and a vanilla site disk all goes well until in needs to restart to join the domain, but an error comes up saying it cannot find the Watford-RM domain. Strange thing is I am also building laptops and they have no problems:confused: I did have this happen before then the next attempt it worked, however I cannot remember how I rectified the situ lmfao Any ideas? Morning Peeps, Just a quick one, I have done my first full install of Win 7 from an ex vista machine and the problem I am having is having the card reader to be shown in my computer. I have tried disconnecting uninstalling and installing but, no joy. Even sticking a memory card in the slot a green LED light appears but still nothing. They are seen under device manager under portable devices and when you expand the tree futher drive letters for each slot appear. They also appear in disk management normally. I would love to comment, but everytime I sign up with a training company to get certs ie national distance learning centre & Advent, they collapse leaving me certless and take all my money lol. I would start possibly with CompTIA+ A and then MCDST would be a very good start, the two together should give you a MCP. (someone correct me if that is not now the case). Books from amazon, on line free test preps and pay only for each exam when ready about (£110 each approx) Good luck

Hi Harveysmith, its not as bad as it sounds if you do a network printer install rather than a local. If you use kNetviewer any adjustments to the printer can be access remotely from the web control panel. We have kitted out our school out with Kyorcera mono and colour MFC's and printers its the best move we have made

Hi Guys this is an area alien to me, and if I explain what the request is then it may help in pointing in the right direction. I have a friend who runs a business and her office pc is win xp (pro I think - need to check). She will shortly be going on to maternity leave and I suggested remote access so she could access her folders from home on a xp pro laptop. I have never ventured into VPN yet, but understand its simple if the host pc has a static IP from the ISP. I do not know yet if this is the case so I will presume that it has a dynamic IP address. I need something that is simple to set up and even simpler to use. My last call out to the office was to resolve an internet connection issue and I found a usb cable stuck in the ethernet port sheesh. I have used teamviewer as a remote access and understand that can VPN as well. Has anyone any experience with using it? Regards, Andy T

We have had an issue with a colour MFC and an extra tray, we wanted to put normal A4 in tray 1 and cheques in tray 2. same issue when tray 1 emptied it auto switched to tray2. Workaround, we set each tray up as a seperate printer, using the mini PCL driver. so we have a printer called bursars and another called bursars cheque, pointing to the same IP address but with only the correct tray and papertype set.

Good news - as an RM School, we cannot afford to do a one swoop upgrade to Win7 at the moment. It will give us a couple of years breathing space. Win 7 all the way though.

Thanks guys, as for not importing the data in from the RM credit system, thats a job best left to end of term as no credits are carried over lol. @Clareq thanks will check out the knowledge base sometime today.

Hi there, was just wondering if anyone has an RM network and has successfully migrated to pcounter. I have seen screenshots and it looks more complex than the RM printer credit system. My questions are : Will it import existing printer credit data and was there any issues with the install etc..? Cheers, Andy T

Is there anyone else out there having an issue with flash 10.x.x packages pushed out on an RM CC3 network? Our package seems to hang on deployment, could it be down to flaky package creation or is this due to flash itself? Any experiences? Andy

Not really iirsprint - I wasn't "dissing" either. Believe me, CC3 has been a god send since Advent took 6 grand off me promising a track through to MCSE and then disapearing up their own ass. CC just makes things easier to find.

koryo vanilla is a pure windows server and client environment using active directory to manage and control various aspects cc3 and cc4 are community connect versions 3 and 4 which take the main services of AD give it a flashier GUI to allow someone whos not really up on MCSA or MCSE to perform network tasks ie a clued up ICT teacher etc.

We had our RM guy down the other day and it seems RM will use a VLK in future to extend the life of XP/CC3 Networks. All obviously down to the financial uncertainty of schools at the moment. The only down side is each machine or laptop will need a full rebuild and the hope that RM can keep using components that have xp drivers As for us I would love in 5 years time to have cut our servers down 50% with virtualisation on a CC4 network with all spankingly new machines on Win7
