I only found out that they ususally charge around £200 for a working office package, which cannot be created with the package creation tool they supply (so I have been told). - which is nice if you have spend the money on the licence. I am at the point of saying goodbye to CC3 within the next 12 months are I am unsure at this moment in time about staying with them for CC4 if they don't change their stance on partnering with more developers to allow CC3/CC4 ready packages direct from suppliers!

shearn89, your a star - I will need to recreate the .msi after speaking to adobe, they were chocolate teapot material until I bought a support contract (hold on isn't spending 6k on the site licence enough), I got the right royal a**hole and deleted it in the huff lol.

Guys - A couple of weeks ago I tried to create a CS5 .msi from the deployment tool to start to create a cc3 package, but was given that the MSI needs to be installed in slient mode. How did you get around this issue. Googled, but couldn't see how its done, if one of you kind chaps could lend a hand with pointers or a walkthrough I would be eternally grateful

As AMLighfoot says - Buy new, the risk of going part worn is too great especially if your car transports your loved ones. Make tyres last longer by decreasing the number of car journeys of less than a mile or so, then the cost per annum average is less.

Good afternoon ravers, Hope you can help, I have created a package of Adobe CS5.5 to push out on our CC3 network. However, the package comes up with an error saying this installer cannot be run directly in UI mode, please deploy this MSI in silent mode. Obviously I now need to make this MSI into a CC3 package and the only way would be to run this MSI in UI mode with Winstaller etc. Has anyone managed to perform this task and are able to share their knowledge? Can I just chip in to say, we had this type of issue on an RM CC3 Network with a Viglen test workstation and had to revert a different mainboard for any success

Afternoon chaps and chap-esses We are just in reciept of a lovely QNAP 4 bay NAS with 8tb drives in a RAID 5. I wish in future to clone teachers laptops over the network and store the images on it. I am looking for a nice easy open source program with a GUI to do it, i've looked at some as soon as I see terminal windows and shells I just freak out lol. Can anyone recommend a program which possibly could run on a portable USB and have a link to to the download Thankingyouverymuch

Afternoon folks, Just wondering if I could ask what peoples experiences are in the "complete school refresh" area, did you purchase desktops/laptops outright or go for a leasing agreement, we are looking to move into the leasing route, I need to give evidence to the govenors so I have come cap in hand to ask your thoughts, experiences, pluses and minuses of each of the routes. Would be good to get lots of feedback on this subject.

Its the same issue as mine with the loan tosh laptop (if I remember its exactly same Realtek driver!)

cheers fellas @bossman - thanks - the Tosh gave us a hell of a problem NDIS driver was fine. The problem came when it drops the NDIS and grabs the XP driver at its attempt to join the domain. I had pointed the build manager to the correct .inf file but still wouldn't work (but manually installing the driver from inside windows works with the same .inf!) Smart clienting would be nice (each one we would need to image as well) at 160+ laptops, that's a whooooole load of work! We do invisage the migration to CC4 or another at sometime which would take this headache away, but we have got to a point where the laptops must come first! AJT

Hi guys, Just wondering if any of you know the whereabouts of any decent and up to date versions of XP driver packs. Found a fe, but all via BT and we don't do torrents *cough* if there are any FTP links would be appricated!

Personally, for data protection I would avoid that route. Teachers may have all the best intentions, but rarely understand the implications of personal data going out into the wild. I would go for a secure VPN system with a script to map drives. We are starting to roll this out here, also look to encrypt any laptop they take out of school.

Hi there, Just wondering if there is a way of increasing the number of thin clients that can be logged into via the same username and password. We wanted to run a german listening exam which contained a WMA file that the pupils would have logged into the account say "examuser". When we log in to a 4th client the 1st logs off! Cheers!

I think Capita should bear the brunt IMO - as long as schools are taking resonable precations to work on the data, users cannot be held responsible for how the program has to work with that data. The program should be adapted to suit if not its a classic case of the tail wagging the dog.

We don't have SLG, but what we have got as part of our support from SITSS is VPN access. Teachers laptops connect via VPN and then run a script to map their network drives (including the sims drive). With also hiding the c:\ drive and disabling save to desktop, we guess we have it around 99.9% secure as non of the data is actually leaving the school.
