Cheers Glennda, That would be ideal, someone who would provide a support contract, but convert some of that support into training. We still have our 3rd line via LA and when tickets are raised, yes things get sorted, but there is an air of reluctancy to tell you how is has been sorted, understandably protecting their own interests.

What we found about CSE is that it is a step closer to a vanilla network, where as I have found with RM CC3/4 it seems to be very restricted/locked down and we have had issues with building and installing packages etc. Also the £40 per workstation for a CC4 licence could make a big difference in the total costings! We also looked at Ranger, but that looked a wee bit scarey lol Lots of stuff floating around the head - good times though!

Our head has given us the go ahead for CC4, but after looking at CSE toolkit and seeing the simplicity behind it we maybe swayed. @Michael, i have to admit vanilla isn't really an option for us, our AD skills aren't really upto much. My main aim is to try and still provide the same SLA to the school as the migration takes place - and every time I try to get myself on an MS cert course, the company goes t*ts up taking my funds with it. lol. Hi Guys, We are looking to migrate from CC3 to CC4 in the summer break, but we have had a look at quite a few of the alternatives, ranger, viglen classlink and CSE. We were actually quite impressed with CSE it seems to give you a bit more flexability, but was wondering if any one uses the system and what their thoughts are re: migration and usage?

I will see how I get on with DBAN - hopefully it will produce the results I need. One of them is the old MIS server, so I do not wish to take chances! Thanks again!

Morning peeps, Just wondering if anyone knows of a freeware program that will tackle SCSI RAID arrays with disk wiping. I have 7 legacy servers which need to be disposed of, but I would rather I knew the disks had at least one good wipe before getting out a pro company to dispose. I know that DBAN cannot do it, but any others?

Steve, I would recommend a long wheel base. Just to give you an idea, they are stacked in a room 12x12 room and are triple stacked in some areas (which means I cannot give you a true count). We need to hold onto 10 units but you are welcome to the rest. Will PM you my mobile number.....

Steve, they come with the OEM key licenced from the factory, but you would need to use your VLK image or if you have an EES agreement a the better.

@steveg yep, the majority have mini atx pegatron boards. We have kept a few keyboards and mice, but we got a few in a box

Ok Guys and Gal's I am under extreme pressure from our head to remove 100+ RM ones (mixture of V1 and V2) as the room that we have stored them in is urgently needed. These are all 478 pin CPU's with a mixture of 1 or 2 GB of RAM (. They all work very well, and everyone passed PC Check diagnostics around 6 months ago. There is about 10 machines which have damaged USB ports due to heavy keys attached to the sticks (im sure these can be replaced at a low cost). This is a GIVEAWAY im sure there would be a few Secondary schools with tight budgets who would appricate them, I only need a few favours back. 1.That they are all picked up in one go. 2.They are picked up as soon as possible. 3. That they are re-imaged and that you supply me with the serial numbers and a letter of transfer on school headed paper Admins - If this is in the wrong place please accept my apologies, I could not fathom which section to put this in! Agreed, the CC3 to CC4 migration would be pretty seemless as most of it can be imported/exported only thing which cannot be migrated is your custom user templates. BTW we don't even let anyone bar my team reset passwords or add printer credits are we being too cruel lol? Having been to a few schools with CC4 implemented, they seem happy enough (they didn't use the printer credit system anyhow). The blessing with moving away from CC3 would be the freedom of not faffing around with DOS network drivers to build, it really limited our choice in workstations and laptops this refresh......

Excellent that this is an apprenticeship, hopefully more UK companies and schools will follow this route to get tomorrows generation into the workplace!

Rooser, we are at the point of moving from CC3 to another. CC4 would be the prefered choice as less of a learning curve and training costs etc, but I am in meetings next few weeks with Impero, Ranger, Viglen Classlink and CSE to look at their products. We have moved our workstations away from RM to Viglen, our SMT want us to look at other options.

TO be fair we were told this is the case and I would lay the blame at the door of your account manager, still doesn't excuse the fact though about them upgrading the system with quite a few of the bells and whistles missing though.
