Ok the issue lies with the staff shared areas and any folder with non standard permissions (ie individuals from the non teaching group being give write permissions to a folder) and any non RM users disappear completely! We have tried moving the staff shared to other volumes and now on a new server where this issue still happens Grrrr! lol.

Hi Guys, Is there a comprehensive list of known issues which causes a server to lose NTFS folder permissions. This is happening to us quite a bit and ususally after RM push out an update (not really blaming RM here as it may just be a setting?) Any experiences of this and ideas gratefully welcomed Andy T

I was the same, these tickets were a birthday present from the wife and showed me that we were in row "D" which was potentionally sitting in the firing line so wasn't to eager to go. Then on arrival it was row "D" up in the circle so large sighs of relief all round.

thanks theblacksheep, I have downloaded the convertor looks quite a handy tool to have. I have also sorted the other issue out by changing the network adapter from NAT to bridged (doh should have checked that first). I also need to seek the AMD lance NIC driver and integrate into the RM boot floppy creator:)

You might have an answer for my next question Birchanger, the main install was from an RM CD, which basically is the vanilla-ish sort until you run the RM commissioning utilities to rename and join it to the domain. I have tried a few times but cannot get my VM to join the domain. I was going to create a new VM by trying to use a floppy boot and pull the files across the network for a more autonomous build but everytime I start it doesn't detect floppy (0) do you wish to try to connect each time on start up which I do - checked settings and all seems ok. Any ideas before I open the PC and physically attach a floppy drive? Thanks again

I was thinking along the same lines but not with a script, just copying all the files to a USB and overwriting them each time, haven't looked at the snapshot function yet. God I love Edugeek

Good Morning ravers, I am currently toying with VMwarework station and was wondering if there was a way to always open the cleanest virtual machine. The reason is we are hopefully going to use it to create packages for our RM network and would be good as to when we are finished with package creation that we log off and all changes made to the OS will be discarded and always guarenteed a "clean OS" on start up. We have just moved all our printers to the Kyocera 3920DN monos and the 5200DN colours. We are paying £15.00 a month per printer and £6 per 1000 mono prints and 7 pence per colour. We are saving around 20-30% on our total spend.

Yep tosh are recovery disks, which mean its a .wim image x file. This is a factory image system which then installs all the additional software. The disk can be sought from toshiba customer services for around £35.00 on providing your serial number. Every new laptop tells you that "you haven't created your recovery media, do you wish to do so now?" but everyone seems to do the "remind me later option" until its to late lol!

have you tried looking at event viewer. By default a bad driver or buggy program could possible cause a BSoD (Blue screen of death), and by default, windows is set to instantly restart. Always a good place to start is event viewer

Spotmau powersuite boot disk has got me out of a BIOS pickle before.

Thanks David, I think the request is to allow the girls to create code that will display basic shapes IE rectangles, triangles etc. Our maths and ICT suite is all thin clients so it would definately have to sit on a Windows terminal server.

Hi there, I have a request from a maths teacher who wants to include an introduction to computer programming by using python with a graphics library. Would there be any security implications to the network? And also, would it be possible for it to be installed on a terminal server/thin client enviornment.

I am confused? Tried memtest?
