Absolutely correct. The 2003 setup disc version is required but works fine. Anything else using IIS on the server? If it comes to reinstalling Metro Electro don't forget to backup you user databases first 'cos it'll over write them (as I found out to my cost a couple of years back when we moved to 2003). HBJB

Possibly whoever supplies you internet provision. IE RM issue IP address ranges for the SWGfL. We have to contact them if we want to make any radical changes to any our our subnets or to change the range. HBJB

We have the very same problem! I never got to the bottom of it either. It happened one day after some Windows Updates were applied but I'm not sure if that's what caused it. As far as I can remember I came across a page on the support site that said it's an MS issue and it'll be fixed in a subsequent service pack (or patch) but seems to have never made it that far. Watching with interest...... HBJB

The old 'do you want any further orders from us?' line usualy works in these cases - there are plenty of suppliers out there and they won't want to lose your business. Any chance of telling us who is it so they can be avoided? HBJB

Since this thread has been resurrected I may as well update it. We ended up calling in RedM in to do a full site survey where a guy setup an aerial and walked around with some very expensive looking kit to determine where the likely trouble spots would be. I haven't had the full report yet but he agreed with our opinions that our school is just weird in it's layout and location and we'd likely have to have a lot of tweaking to do when we replace out kit with some more reliable and appropriate stuff. Will keep you posted. HBJB

Does anyone else find that it tends not to open any 2007 files though? We have the latest version here and we get 'unable to open' messages every time we use it. HBJB

I've created some of my own templates.. They're reletivly easy to setup. Training comes later in the week. For some reason half the news feeds were blocked by the filter but that was easily sorted. HBJB

We've just had two of these fitted today - well, one Net-Top box and two monitors using CAT5 to get the signal. works well and easy to schedule events etc. We used USL to install them. HBJB

I'm seriously thinking about moving from Sophos to ANYTHING else (Norton excepted). V7 just kills half of our machines (it's services sometimes refuse to let the PC do anything for about 30 - 40 minutes), EM console is not the best piece of software (it also bugs me that you can't uninstall/re-install) and it's a bit bloated for my liking. It used to be good but now I'm in the market for something else. When I got quotes for NOD32 it was dearer than Sophos. I've heard mixed reports also. HBJB

SYSVOL, NETLOGON and AD are the main three that are replicated. Make sure any logon scripts/profiles etc that point to your main DC use the %logonserver% variable instead of a path to the main DC. EG a logon script in NETLOGON folder may be set as \\LOGON1\\NETLOGON\Script1.bat when it's best to use %logonserver%\NETLOGON\Script1.bat since it will obviously not work if LOGON1 is down. Using this variable means that it will pull it from whichever server your user is logged into at the time. Our machines seem to be spilt roughly down the middle as to which they log into. I'm not sure how it does this but it seems to spread the load quite well. We have 2 DCs and we recently tested our setup by pulling the network lead from DC1 to see if things were working OK (after school I hasten to add). All we had to do was log off then back on again to pick up all the replicated stuff (re-directed menus etc). We have DNS on both the DCs and the second part of a split DHCP scope on DC2. I also keep all of the DHCP reservations in a Netsh dump file for easy import if I need it. HBJB
