I'm currently testing using the MySQL Workbench. I have installed MySQL on a server using the MySQL Community Installer. MySQL :: Download MySQL Community Server I've set up a few test users with schema privileges of username% and no administrative priviledges. This allows them to create databases that begin with their username. So far so good.

Also late to the thread. My son found Adobe's Brackets editor to be a big help with HTML and CSS, which is the place to start. Javascript can come later if required. You might like to look at https://www.codecademy.com/ too, it has structured free courses for HTML, https://www.codecademy.com/learn/web

I agree totally bossman. They are using a plugin for Chrome and IE now. We are trying the tests on 3, only 3, computers and the student's sessions are timing out while data is downloading. Their servers appear to be totally overloaded. I phoned the helpline, but they are not answering because of a 'high volume of calls' and all Advisors are busy on the 'Live' chat. A total deadend. Update: We finally have 3 students doing the tests. Perhaps other schools have given up and freed up some bandwidth for us. Glad we didn't try a full class.

[ms office - 2010] Changing settings for all users
PaulBM replied to Micrawave's topic in Office Software
Here's the contents of our .reg file to turn on Sections in Word status bar. We did find that applying it via GPO was intermittent. Some we had to apply by hand. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\User Settings\EPA_Settings] "Count"=dword:00000001 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\User Settings\EPA_Settings\Create] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\User Settings\EPA_Settings\Create\Software] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\User Settings\EPA_Settings\Create\Software\Microsoft] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\User Settings\EPA_Settings\Create\Software\Microsoft\Office] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\User Settings\EPA_Settings\Create\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\User Settings\EPA_Settings\Create\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Word] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\User Settings\EPA_Settings\Create\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Word\StatusBar] "Section"=dword:00000001 By the way, the 'EPA_Settings' part can be anything. -

It seems that the Section change to the Status Bar is a per user setting. Thankfully after a lot of searching I found a way to add Registry entries for every user to turn Sections on. This site explains how to do it. Deploying Custom Registry Settings for Office 2010 - The Deployment Guys - Site Home - TechNet Blogs And finally... my allow PopUps in Chrome via GPO were not working either. Turns out the correct syntax for wildcards is [*.]enlight.net. Just Java to sort now! -

Office changes for ECDL, I've just been on the phone to EnlightKS. I asked for GPO settings for the three changes, but they do not have that information. Sadly it seems 'all installations are different and they cannot document every combination'. After seaching through the GPOs, having added the Office and Word ADMX files, I've found two... so far. Untested at the time of writing, I'm still looking for the Status bar one. User Config / Policies / Admin Templates / Microsoft Word 2010 / Word Options / Customise Ribbon / Display Developer tab in the Ribbon User Config / Policies / Admin Templates / Microsoft Word 2010 / Word Options / Security / Trust Center / VBA Macro Notification Settings / Enable All (Not recommended) -
Would you mind sharing your script for Java deployment? If I can get Java security sorted I think I'll be there. Well the tests will all work, then it's looking at the Microsoft Office UI requirements! I'm still amazed that the Java MSIs are only available to paying 'Enterprise' customers, especially when they can be grabbed during a regular the install anyway.

Oh no, I've just been asked to set up Enlight for our school in June. My first question was why on earth are they using Java and it appears they don't support java 8 yet! Running a test as student user, the applets are blocked as you'd expect. The saga begins!

Wow UltraEdit, that's a blast from the past, I bought that too. I can't remember what it looks like now.

It's worth looking at Flexbox nowadays. Providing your users are on up to date browsers... I mean not using IE. Can I use... Support tables for HTML5, CSS3, etc Here's a great guide to Flexbox. Once you get your head around the container settings and the child settings it becomes very powerful. It's vital for responsive sites. https://css-tricks.com/snippets/css/a-guide-to-flexbox/

I've used Eclipse for years and still do.

I've been using BitTorrent Sync since it first appeared, it was very handy keeping our son's files backed up while they were away at Uni. I'm concerned that the new version might be removing some feature we currently have. I guess we'll have to wait until the 30 day countdown expires to see what happens.

We have it working, but I don't know which account was used to sign up. All I have the ID to put in our gateway device to activate the Edu filter. Without the admin account our Media teacher can't whitelist some advert videos she wants the students to critique. If you guys are struggling to get signed up, I doubt I have a chance to find out how to gain full access to our account.

Is the GameKiller software still available for download? I've tried the links but they appear broken now.
