Watch out for the post that goes along the lines of: 'I have the same problem and I used such and such - it's really great' etc. HBJB

It actually looks like the cd's were NOT encrypted at all. 8O How much of a bollocking would we get if we 'lost' our student databases? DPA my arse. HBJB -
SIMs backup script after SQL 2005 migration failing...
Heebeejeebee replied to mullet_man's topic in MIS Systems
I can only get my 2005 SIMS to backup if I use the SA username and password despite using dbattach 1.7. I used to use my specially created backup user but that doesn't seem to work anymore. Not happy about having the sa password in plain text in my script. HBJB -
ID3Tag-IT is the one I use. It's development has been stopped now but it's very good and easy to use. HBJB

6xx series - on the right hand side behind the board on the board where the USB lead fits in there's a button which you'll need to to push in with a paper clip .... at least there is on ours. HBJB
-
We have a couple of boards like that. Co-incidentally (?) on these boards, if you draw a straight line close to the edge of the board it bends in all kinds of directions. Smart say: Make sure you're on the latest software, flash the firmware then re-boot the board (button on the right hand side). If that doesn't work contact the distributor for replacement. HBJB

Is there a way of creatin DHCP reservations from a CSV file?
Heebeejeebee replied to Gonk's topic in Windows
Use... netsh dhcp server \\servername dump >c:\dhcp.txt ... to get your current list. Look for the reservation section: # ====================================================================== # Start Add ReservedIp to the Scope : IP of Server Server : IP of Server # ====================================================================== Dhcp Server SERVER-IP Scope SCOPE-IP Add reservedip RESERVEVED-IP MAC-ADDRESS "SomePC" "Description" "BOTH" and paste in your own list (from your spreadsheet). then import the amended file with netsh exec c:\dhcp.txt Works a treat for us. I thought they used DRAM or similar - not the same type as your standard flash drive. This would negate the 'wearing out' problem. HBJB

Thanks - it looks nice. Our cover supervisor will be well pleased. HBJB

There are plenty of SATA ones out there though. Bigger sizes too! HBJB

Sending files to Capita via FTP (or not).
Heebeejeebee replied to Heebeejeebee's topic in MIS Systems
Uploads are 340Kb this morning - data sent OK. I'm waiting for the call to say it's corrupt now. :? HBJB -

Heebeejeebee replied to Heebeejeebee's topic in MIS Systems
How did I miss that? I was chugging around the site for ages looking for clues. D'oh! It seems splitting it may work so I'll give it a go and start just after the hour (I did notice the last disconnection was dead on the hour). If that doesn't work it's snail mail 'm afraid. Cheers HBJB -
Hi, Does anyone else experience extreme difficulties with FTPing files up to the capita support site? I keep getting transfer errors and then it starts all over again - it apparently does not support resume. I've been trying for 5 days now to get our database and docstorage folders to them for analysis. This is not the first time this has happened - it's all the time. I suspect pure luck is involved when we do get stuff uploaded after the 2 millionth attempt. We've taken to posting the files to them on a CD in the past coz it's quicker! :x The transfer gets part of the way through - sometimes 90% which makes it all the more frustrating. I've even tried it from home in case it's our connection here that's dropping it but the same thing happens. Using Filezilla btw. HBJB

Correct me if I'm wrong but T6 is Modeling & Construction (structure of the timetable) and T4 does the scheduling. So you need to use both (I think). HBJB

Hmmm.... I think the product I last looked at (some time ago before I abandoned my search) required the system to be 'offline' since it imaged it from a dos like state (similar to Ghost 9) and this could not handle RAID arrays. Since they now image whilst the system is live (like Ghost 10) this should no longer be a problem and I should have thought before I leapt in and posted. HBJB
-
Did I miss it - it doesn't seem to mention anything about supporting RAID. You can use it to dump an image to but apparently not to make an image of. I'm looking for a solution that will image raid (5+0) so that I can keep a fail safe image off site but have so far drawn a blank. I do like the fact that you can restore to a virtual machine though. It means you could keep one tucked away for emergencies. HBJB
