  1. Ha! I can still be heard to mutter "Total Eclipse" in a dodgy Russian accent every now and then. I'm sure people think I'm mad. HBJB
  2. For me it's anti-clockwise if I look at the foot and clockwise if I look at the leg. HBJB
  3. Congrats - and don't forget to bring your details in on Monday! HBJB
  4. Yes £5.5K (overspent already - thanks to an increase in the photocopy charge to faculties) 1100 btw we don't cover the photocopiers - that's another budget. HBJB
  5. 3g barely works where I am - It's more off than on and it's very fickle. Fortunately I'm nearly always in a wireless zone or one of the BT Openzones (which are also included with the iPhone). The phone will always try to use the wireless first, then 3g, then edge etc. The unlimited data (fair usage) is clearly advertised on all the the gumph that I've seen about it and it was actually pointed out to me when I got mine. 6. RM for Raving Mad!! HBJB
  7. Is that the kind of maths that the banks/government have been using to get us into so much sh*t? HBJB
  8. LOL - Friez and myself did this test this morning and got 10/10 - so there! (Although one or two might have been guesses) HBJB
  9. He's probably getting it from the bit that says student data can be automatically populated from your MIS. Looks like a nice site and might take a closer look when I've got 10 mins. HBJB
  10. Sounds great - if it works. They probably spent a whole load more money than the LEA when they supplied that type of system to us. Our new suite uses this principle as part of the 'green' spec that had to be built into the build. When it's a little bit over normal temperature the AC kicks in but if it still gets too hot inside the 6 external vents open, the AC shuts off and fresh air is used (unless there's no air movement outside in which case it falls over and tries to do everything all at once). When it's cold the vents shut and AC turns into heating mode. It's crap though since the only temperature setting (that we can't control) seems to be set at bloody freezing and the AC is on all the time. We can turn it off but it automatically turns itself back on after a few minutes (I like it cold but this is ridiculous). Also it's supposed to use the colder outside air at night to cool the rooms so that they're at a lower temperature in the morning but it appears not to work properly. Sounds great in principle but since it's never worked right from the beginning I think they need to work on the controls before they inflict it upon us. Everybody here moans about it being too cold in the new rooms but too hot in the old rooms. Our school tries to be green but they sort of give up when they see teachers in rooms with the AC flat out and the heaters on as well - not to mention windows and doors open with AC/heating running. 11. Pah!! 1Gb? I struggle to find space with my two 32Gb ones. I've had a couple of staff ask me about it but since they already have 8Gb sticks and don't really want the expected spamfest that's bound to follow they've passed. HBJB
  12. We did use the RM SmartCache as an upstream proxy for a while when we were setting up our Smoothwall box and it seemed to work. Once we'd got it setup we ditched the RM box completely. You could also try having students on on proxy and staff on another. HBJB
  13. Here? That's where I get my spares from. HBJB
  14. I speak from experience Holiday prices all year round, usually wet, when the sun does shine you can't get near the coast because of the grockles and massively expensive houses (if are there any left - they all seem to be knocked down in favour of new blocks of 12 flats). Still ... having said that the new Forest is nice in parts - shame people drop litter everywhere, I love Moyles Court (nostalgia trip) and then there's Weymouth - with a pub on every corner and it's own weather system it's a pleasure to visit. @ Witch - I have a feeling we've met. Which school(s) do you work at? HBJB
  15. Did you image these PCs or install manually on each? Troubleshooting Deployment may help. HBJB
  16. Civilisation? Dorset? Since when? HBJB
  17. That's exactly what we've just done to our rather bloated list if 52 distribution groups (can i have a list for this, can I have a list for that:(). Students are denied all but those that they need to send to - Student voice etc. They can still select them and try to send mail but they get an email back telling them that they're denied. HBJB
  18. Could use this also: Powershell then get-mailboxStatistics -server mail >"c:\mailsize.txt" HBJB
  19. I think they use FlexLM now for their licensing so you can pretty much install it anywhere and the 'License Server' should take care of the allocation side. You can only use it concurrently on as many machines as you have licenses for. At least that's what I'm told by our supplier. We bought some licenses for Motion Builder, Maya and 3D Studio Max and I've not been able to install it yet so cannot comment further. HBJB
  20. Well, We're getting this error randomly as well. It comes out of the blue but it you leave it a few seconds and refresh the page it loads fine. Have logged a case at RM (SWGfL supplier) but no joy as yet. HBJB
  21. It's over 4m wide, 16:9 and pumps out beautiful Hi Def BlueRay/HDDVD as well. The build cost well over 1.4m but the IT was around 150K. Its a VR setup hence the dual projectors in the back room. Stereo projection look fab in HD. So far we're still playing with it but we've got Google Earth working in 3d (via More3D) and a load of pre-loaded 3d stuff. Apart from this room and the PCs in it we've also got a Gypsy suit (motion capture) and a nice Haptic device, some Polycom video conferencing kit (around 10k), a laptop suite of 30 (hope the wireless can cope)and a couple of new IWBs. The PCs in the picture were from SCL Online. HBJB
  22. I can't get my iPhone to connect to our Exchange server . It just won't play ball. I have to auto forward a copy to another account to pick it up. Sadly the iPhone will not use the reply address I've set (same as work address) so they see and reply directly to the forwarding account. HBJB
  23. Finally...... New suites up and running (sort of) Nice big screen eh? Good res too! HBJB
  24. I ask because I've only had limited success with any of the methods I've used. I've tried unassinging the app, waiting for it to go from machines (not always convenient if they need to use the program) then deploying the new one. This works most of the time but not always. Also tried the upgrade route via the advanced tab. This was the most unsuccessful way of doing it since it rarely picked up the updated file despite version numbers being different. Also tried a parallel install with a different Group Policy Object with limited success. @ Jobos - Sorry to hijack the thread but I also need to update Flash around the school and it's being troublesome. Cheers HBJB
  25. You'd also use advanced if you had some transforms you wanted to apply (always useful with Java/Acrobat installs). @AJS - how do you get a later version round the network? Replace the install or add the new one? HBJB
