Update: Those who keep an eye on Ray Flemming's education blog will see a post next week about the use of external connectors. As you may or may not know, I've been trying to find out about the licesing of parents and govenors for Sharepoint. Yesterday the official line was that for parents and governors etc to connect to your Sharepoint server (for example) you need an external connector license (or internet version of the software). This is around £5K! As from now (and I have this from the horses mouth) you no longer need this. I quote from his email: I attach the file he sent that confirms this. Enjoy your new found wealth. Generaly only 2 flash drives (a 64GB one and a 32GB one). I find that my whole world fits on these Small tool kit if I need to delve into machines or cabs. HBJB

... if so what kit do you use? I've been tasked to find a system for printing our own staff ID cards and need a system where they can be printed 'on the hoof' for visitors etc. I've been looking at these but would like to know if anyone has a better system with decent software for capturing photos and putting them into a template. The job of printing them will most likely be given to the reception staff so it needs to be fairly easy to use. Cheers HBJB

Did you mean the ones I use are expensive? If so then maybe, but it's not instant - it's real coffee in pods (and much more range and better taste than the Tassimo ones). Carte Noir 200g @ £5 is not 'cheap' though and £2.50 for the same thing at Costa is just a con (but I still find myself buying them though ) Having said that, the Carte Noir instant is about the best of the bunch in my opinion. They call me a coffee snob here because I've got my own Nespresso machine on the desk (plus one at home). Can't stand that instant stuff (any brand) and much prefer a decent cup of nice tasting coffee. It's almost instant as well since it only takes 30 seconds to make a cup. The downside is that the machines cost a couple of hundred quid but the capsules are only 26p each so comparable with a decent instant brand. HBJB

Well, They've both arived (different suppliers) so I'll play with them and see what happens. HBJB

@ mac_shinobi It does indeed and I like it but I've just found a 3com wireless AP that I had in a cupboard that can broadcast in b/g/a so I can piggy back that on to the (cheaper) Netgear one ad have my self covered for half the price. Thanks for all the replies HBJB

Thanks I'm on ADSL at the moment (ADSL2 is wishful thinking but why not be prepared for when/if it arrives). As stated above the Netgear one seens OK but I need a/g/n not just g/n. Cheers HBJB

Ta. Yup ADSL/2. The netgear one looks nice and has everything I need but am I missing something? It appears to have b/g/n but not 'a'. Two of my laptops here use 'a' but not 'n', one uses 'n' and the iPhone uses 'g' and since I live in an area populated by loads of student lets I get continually blasted out by b/g signals. As yet no-one around here is using a/n so it makes sense to use it if I've got it. Cheers HBJB

OK so my home router has decided to play up constantly so I'm in the market for a new one. I'm looking for b,g,a,n standards, firewall, port forwarding, LAN ports and reliability (VPN not essential but would be nice). I've been looking at this one but it seems only to have be capable of n bands and I need a and g as well. Any suggestions welcome. Cheers HBJB

I would appreciate a link FN-GM. Maybe all of us with 3d projection should have a chat about the direction this could go in. Our SMT are really keen to progress things but the lack of ready made cross curricular software is hindering us. We have a fair amount of Science stuff, a couple of English things and some History bits and bobs. There's also Google Earth in 3d - that gets used a lot (you need more3d to do that though). As mentioned we've had to plough loads of money into doing it ourselves - so far Freiz has made 2 or 3 and is on the next one as we speak. HBJB
