How they manage that one then. -
Worked in four seperate schools from infant to secondary since 2007. Some of its been quite fufilling, eye opening and the stuff students come out with can be downright entertaining. Ill miss parts of it to be honest but it will be nice to work with adults again and earn a more appropriate wage. Still working for the tax payer in my new position in IT Support.

England Scotland NI Wales are stronger together. Get over it scottish/irish it was hundreds of years ago, seriously? Were not living in the dark ages anymore. If they don't like it though give them the country, longer term we will be worse off and it will cost more money. However the whole thing is unfair. Students with free education in scotland? English taxpayers subsidising NI/Scotland and Wales. Were yet to get our own motorway in dorset...No infrastructure here. Bournemouth has some big business - e.g. J.P. Morgan, Nationwide, Siemens, Sunseeker etc. Its all being sent up north.

Dam! Where do you live and work? Having said that I will soon be doing a bit of commuting now and again to North Dorset. Both heads at my previous schools commute in from portsmouth to bournemouth every day - pretty far (100 miles there and back each day). Then again they can afford it -

I used to drive all the way to Upton and Hamworthy from Xchurch - petrol was a killer more so now! Specially on school wages. -

You won't get LGPS in a private school though hence why salarys tend to be a tad higher. Witch you gone for any of the local jobs or my job? It would be funny if you got two of my jobs ; ) -

In the IT jobs I have applied for a majority had a technical and written test. e.g. Computer broken fix it - ram loose, network cable loose, sata cable loose, bios (hd needs config). Login and add to domain and set a proxy. Setup a projector and connect to a smartboard. Written test consisted of prioritisation and how I would deal with a variety of scenarios e.g. CEO secretary cant remember her password, projector and screen needs setting up for 30 minutes, an application has failed meaning 30 students can't work. Or leisure center booking system has failed meaning no one can come in or book. One test asked me about various names like what does RAM, ROM, OSI model stand for. In one interviews students took me round on a tour. Their opinions of me counted slightly in the interview process. If it was me interviewing I would have a written test, spoken test and practical test with several levels of difficulty to seperate the men from the boys.
