  1. Agreed. I’d say that assessment needs to be consistent.
  2. So what this debate doesn't seem to be addressing is the needs of the MAT. These may include things like running costs ease of use etc but the real issue for MATs is accountability. This requires serious attention to processes in each academy and x-school reporting. The team at the centre will need to be able to understand how each school is performing compared to every other school. The MAT will need to be putting in place common behaviour policies etc so that it is able to answer rigorous questioning by Ofsted. This isn't about XP preferences!
  3. We found that schools gradually grow in confidence with sharing data with parents. There is a configuration page that sets everything up - unless you turn it on it won't be visible.
  4. Have port settings been changed?
  5. The on-line service status is available on MyAccount. It’s on so you’ve got a different problem.
  6. It is time consuming to set something like this up. I think that result sets might help you as you don't loose marks when entering new ones. If someone on this forum doesn't respond try MyAccount.
  7. I know I would say this but is it wise to be building your own solution? However good you are in the GDPR world the cost of getting this wrong is crippling.
  8. National Curriculum Year
  9. FMS has a flexible import/export facility that allows central payments to be exchanged with other systems in LAs.
  10. @mavhc - end users are concerned with what a product does and not the technology. FMS is pretty well unique in catering for LA/School requirements of a mix of local/central processing, payroll inter changes etc
  11. Tiers are designed to allow schools that have distinct prep & main schools to have one database but separate timetables. Staff are normally allocated to a single tier but some staff such as chaplains can be shared. Pupils are in tiers according to their year group. HR & Finances are shared.
  12. If anyone can change data in your implementation of SIMS, I would suggest that permissions have not been tightly controlled! All attendance & assessment data is audited. With the close links that Capita has established with the ICO, I can't imagine that schools will be exposed in any way.
  13. I’d always recommend making a Support call - it helps in understanding issues.
  14. Thanks for the clarification.
  15. Interesting - how will you cope with GDPR requirements to list every data item you have on a child? I would have thought this sort of thing would be high up on the list of info that will be required.
  16. @pete I'm not at Capita on a daily basis now so can't be sure BUT I do know the Product Manager Ben Jones and there is no way he'd have forgotten to block off court order people. Also they go to great trouble to make sure that one parent can't see the other parent's personal data.
  17. It can sum to a house but as above can only assign to individuals
  18. It's been a while since I left so I'm out of touch. I would expect there to be an additional hosting fee but actually don't know what the current thinking is.
  19. Other options are available for in school
  20. I can’t answer the whole question but we believe that this has the advantage of being more secure than anything else that’s available and takes away the overhead of managing passwords from schools. I’ll stand back and wait the backlash!!
  21. Correct
  22. Largely you need to be using SIMS for attendance, behaviour & preferably assessment.
  23. SIMS shouldn't be crashing in this way. I would say that by working in this way the school is losing the opportunity of acting quickly on using the information. I've been into a lot of schools that have done away with the paper discipline records and have SMT monitor positive and negative instances as they happen. There's nothing more effective than SMT telling a child in the corridor that you've seen that they did a great thing in the last lesson. Equally if something is getting out of hand - say 3 low level disruptions - SMT going into the class making it known that its been noticed is very powerful.
  24. Yes the cloud version of Options is out there and being widely used. You can let students/parents pick their choices from pathways that have been allocated to students.
