@ronnoco Teacher App has been out for several years and gets great reviews. Parent App is new but its been on trial at a number of schools for quite a while - on boarding is very straight forwards. SLG does have its fans BUT not on this forum!!- 12 replies

@tben2505 - secondary schools will have Options 8 fairly soon. That will give you a good idea of the styling. We'll be doing demos later this year as tasters. A nice enhancement to Assessment is that calculated columns can contain complex calculations - no need for loads of hidden columns!!

Sheila it's Registrations & Admissions. This is used by Indy schools to assist with marketing, enrolments etc.

There is an easier way to import applications if you have R&A. There is a CSV import available.

I would strongly advise against using this approach as it combines two completely separate attributes into a single column; this makes analysis harder. It also means that the temptation for teachers will be to complete the register at the end of the session and a key reason for using Lesson Monitor is to find missing pupils immediately. It is so easy to right click and make behaviour entries. In 8 I don't think we'll be supporting this dual field usage and all such marks will be moved into 8 as standard attendance ones.

If I'm reading your question correctly the data is outside SIMS? I am pretty sure that you can use spreadsheet import to get PoS Aspect results into SIMS. It easiest if you export from SIMS to form your data collection sheets and then reimport them but it is possible to define input cols and import into SIMS AM.

We have parents at Capita that are being bombarded by text messages from schools - especially those with multiple children. Messages really need to be targeted.

As a cloud service I think this has to be on at all times - as soon as it can be switched off there's a hole in security!!

We're splitting timetabling much as has been observed above. Manual timetabling adjustments on a live system - you could actually create a timetable in that if you really wanted to (primaries might actually do that for scheduling literacy, PE etc). Auto-scheduling is a separate area. Nova-T6 can be used for the auto-schedule part but we are re-engineering this too. It is now possible to produce awesome results in HTML5 within the cloud and that is where we're going.

All the flexibility that Independents require is already built in - we demo'd to the Indy conference in March for an hour. Adoption will depend on whether you use Fees or R&A both should be ready at end of 18. Basic SIMS-ID is included within the 8 platform; we needed to be able to on-board simply.

@Jebanzeb - tricky question - for secondary state sector end of 18 will see a complete SIMS8.

SIMS Primary has been with support units since January 17 - the only thing that is missing is Dinner Money. We're taking on board feedback from pilot schools and support units now. In the common areas its already secondary ready. in the secondary area Options will be released for 7 users in May. Exam Analysis later this year (but not in time for summer unfortunately)

@matt40k - two significant secondary modules will be here this year. One is due next month!

@jmak - support can still be provided by SIMS Support Units/TPs although Capita will be hosting it all in Azure. Emphasis will shift away from technical problem solving to helping schools implement their policies, pointing out ways to save money and improving outcomes for children. I see huge opportunities for third parties in this area. @mjk - SLA will exist on release.

@Michael - yes something is coming aimed at academies first in early 18.

Schools will be able to use Nova-T6 and feed the result back into 8. We are building a new Timetable module in the cloud but are phasing it to follow the main release of 8.
