The regulations require a school to admit children and issue admission numbers. There used to be a requirement to write names in the admission register!
-
I'm pretty sure that the DfE backed away from making this mandatory.
-
It's not recommended as you will be issuing admission numbers to pupils that won't turn up. You will then probably delete them leading to gaps in the adno sequence. I know some add on products rely on schools doing this but it isn't good practice.
-
I''m not sure that I agree with you @vikpaw. Registration in the UK is a legal record and can be used in courts to prove that children are in class or not. Therefore registration is something that cannot be treated as an inference. Registers need to be taken.
-
@vikpaw All attendance changes are audited in SIMS
-
Sorry @GREED - no can do!!
-
It's certainly visual!
-
When you see the new design in 8 it will become obvious.
-
We don't have a lot of schools moving from Progresso - schools tend to come directly from Facility. We don't have access to any other MIS but if you can get attendance data out we should be able to read it in.

[sims] Automatic Message Triggered by Behaviour Points Total
PhilNeal replied to CAM's topic in MIS Systems
@CAM, there isn't an active programme on Discover at the moment I'm afraid. -
Behaviour is multi-select and then enter the detail - very very quick.
-
@Banjo correct - if you already have a licence it will take you to 8.
-
Interesting observation - so if we were already in the cloud and completely re-wrote the thing would that require a re-procurement?
-
No migration fees. Certainly a hosting fee.
-
@Edu-IT no images yet; we're in the process of simplifying some of the processes. @Tefters - registered support units already have access to a sandpit; at this stage we won't give further access.
-
If you are licenced for SIMS already there will not be an upgrade fee.
-
SIMS Finance is on pilot now. It will be ready for release Jan 18. Training materials etc being worked on now which will include on-line tutorials.
-
Probably yes you'd wait. Although its called SIMS Primary the elements that are out are secondary ready. When you come on will depend on how much of SIMS you use.
-
Assuming the pilot is successful SIMS Primary - Jan 2018. SIMS Options - Autumn 2017. SIMS Secondary - Pilot Sept 2018.
-
@Bill8 - We haven't implemented this as there is a national standard which is CTF. We're not keen on implementing something that could become superseded by the DfE's data exchange project which is still going although its currently paused. I'm very keen on a "file free" solution.

I'd be surprised if Assessment Manager isn't customisable enough - it might take a lot of effort to set it up in the first place.
