    LAs already have tools that can create risk profiles and flag up children potentially at risk. Studies have already identified risk factors that can be weighted. For example - moving house more than x times, high absence rates & parent with a court order. It's not AI and is only an indicator.

    I think it would be a brave cloud supplier that allowed direct SQL calls on the database especially if it was multi-tenanted. Also it may well not be a SQL database when dealing with cloud solutions. PS I'm not speaking for Capita being largely retired.

    Not to do with the acquisition but I do worry about the noises around workload reduction and data collection. I hope it doesn’t encourage schools not to take data seriously

    Placing pupils on report is the way to achieve this. The report can be very light weight.

    Unless there has been a massive change in policy since I left, the new finance product is not built on Agora. Agora is simply a parental payment option.

    You make a valid point but I was thinking that if CTFs have been used to get a lot of the data. Getting an update of email addresses would be less trouble than keying in tonnes of individual data including sensitive medical info.

    Exam results, if you have exams, can be imported from the exam board files. The Parent App Lite is free and allows parents to complete their info on line with little effort from school staff.

    I think there are two questions to ask. Does PM respect the court order settings? (I'd be shocked if it didn't!) The second question is how quickly does a change of status get implemented? With court orders this needs to be pretty well immediate!

    As long as permissions are applied then staff would have the right to see relevant data. Quite often in training sessions permissions are elevated which would be a serious GDPR issue. I support the argument to use real data as it makes everything much more meaningful. If the training is about using data then even more reason to use real data.

    @CAM this is something that any company can do. Capita has done it - it’s not favouriting Capita!!!!

    I don’t think I have said that is necessary but it’s entirely possible that colleagues have! My interpretation of the law is that it would be necessary if the data was being shared with a TP not acting as a data processor for the school.

    I really don’t get this argument at all. A school must store parent data and keep it up to date. This is an anti-cloud argument

    The Parent data collection is an integral part of SIMS and an essential tool that helps parents and the school maintain accurate data. I find your argument odd. Data is not being shared with MS at all.

    Well if cloud MIS solutions have to get permission from parents to store data that is unworkable.
