OK I have to ask - why don't you want to use Options which will minimise staff costs and maximise student choices which will be pretty hard for a spreadsheet to pull off?

As Esteban says we will do all of the upgrades & patching. The only thing you might need to deal with is third party connectors.

Just for the record the vast majority of our schools & LAs are on 1 year contracts - no lock in! Also in England & Wales schools make their own choices anyway!

There is a widget that can be placed on the home page that shows this. It's almost certainly a standard report. If you have InTouch it is a standard output to send txt/emails.

This is of course for England only!!
-
There are lots of schools using it - they're just not on this forum! If you drop me a PM I can arrange for you to speak to a school that is using it.

You can save any group in Discover that then becomes a user defined group. These groups can then be used to "filter" standard graphs

In my experience LAs care very much indeed!

I'm not qualified to answer questions but will pass them onto people that are!

KB119975 is being updated. Attached is the version that is being worked up into the KB.KB119975.docxKB119975.docx I hope this clarifies things.

@vikpaw - agreed that is what I expect to be getting.

I've reviewed the revised advice but asked for it to be simplified. In essence an "ordinary" user of SIMS will not require access to the directory containing the database. Certain actions cause a file to be produced and will require write access to the destination directory e.g. cover writing the HMTL output or the Census output for DfE etc or writing orders to disc. Apologises for taking longer than I had said.
-
I agree this is highly suspect - I will post as soon as KB has been updated.
-
I've had an update from our engineers - we will update our advice on this issue aiming to be complete by Monday. I'll post on here when the revised advice is available.
-
@kennysarmy - the question from @ITGURU was about permissions within SIMS not access to folders in the operating system
-
A quick update - I've gone back to the dev team to refine the KB. @ITGURU - what we can't do is provide support for an infinite number of permission permutations in an infinite number of routes. I'll advise the team to express this more clearly.

I've asked the service desk manager to take a look at the response.

We'll be making an announcement in March. It's actually in the hands of pilot schools now. -
Keeping Parent Data up to date - how do you do it?

Get the pupil's to write the letter if its a primary school! -
Debbie I understand that this should have been resolved last year. Please try to log in.

If you'd like to email me I'll put someone onto this. [email protected]

I think that at the moment many schools make sure their data is accurate at the time of the census. We are required to put in probability checks into MIS software. If the data just leaves the school without a process I'm guessing it will not have the same accuracy as it does today.
-
I'm not so sure that it will be that easy. We need to allow null entries for validated fields or else schools won't be able to enter children. Will there not be a requirement to validate these i.e. have some form of census check?
