    Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has deployed one of these (in the UK) ------ https://eu.store.ui.com/eu/en/collections/unifi-wifi-inwall-outlet-mesh I know it states that it is for a EU outlet only, but surely an EU > UK adaptor would do the trick? I may be missing something really obvious here.....lol TIA.

    We recently purchased 20 Lenovo IdeaPad 3 chromebooks for just over £100 a unit (new) They seem to be performing well. No complaints here...

    Get the old server as updated as you can. Virtualise it with Hyper-V, then export each VM (DC, FS etc) you have created. Install Hyper-V on the new server and then mount the VMs. I would then in place upgrade each VM (on the new server) to 2019/2022 if you have the licensing. Lots of people suggest that you should never ever.... ever in place upgrade a DC. I however, have never had any issues doing this (I am probably very lucky lol) and I know a lot of techs that in-place upgrade everything with 0 issues.

    Just had an invoice from RM for £80 which is noted as a price increase for broadband at one of my schools. Didn't receive anything previous to this, nice of them to let me know beforehand

    This would be my suggestion. Having looked at the model of phone you are using it states the following... (Wifi 2.4G - 5.0 GIEEE802.11 a/b/g/n/ac(only SISO) This means it just has a single antenna for transmitting and another one for receiving, compared to a mimo capable device which has multiple antenna for these services.

    Mosyle is ok... but it lacks a few features if you are using the free version. Like bulk operations etc. You have to use carts/trolleys (if I recall) to create different groups of devices. For the most part though, I think it's a good MDM. I have used Meraki, Intune, Jamf, and Mosyle. Jamf comes out on top... every time.

    Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone can recommend a good company for iPad screen repairs? We have numerous iPads lying around that performance wise are fine, they just have cracks and aren't suitable for student use. I would replace them myself if I had the time!! Also on this topic, if you use iPads in your school, how do you handle the cost of screen repairs/maintenance? for example, we have an iPad in each class/department - if they cracked it, would you charge their department the cost of a replacement screen? Thanks.

    I am looking to move from RM. I have had countless quotes that come in cheaper compared to what we are paying now. For me, the main thing that has made me want to change is the lack of support. Sometimes I have to wait multiple days for a firewall change, or even just an IP reservation.

    Very good point, although a yubikey could be attached to a lanyard and they don't seem to forget those... haha!

    I have been looking into options for our schools recently too. Most teachers have iPads, but they always seem to misplace them - or complain about the prompt taking to long to come through. I considered using yubikeys, but they aren't supported with GCPW which is the login method we use. Might be one to discuss with SLT, as having to wait an extra 30 seconds for a prompt certainly beats a data breach!

    Thanks everyone. I will be contacting datto as for £1 per user per month isn't bad in my opinion. I did contemplate using something like backblaze or wasabi to back up the on-prem synology.

    Hi all, Currently evaluating our backup options for our central google tenant. I will be installing a NAS box with active backup capabilities so that it covers on-site, but I was wondering what people use cloud wise for their backups? There seem to be so many options, acronis, backupify, afi, redstore, spanning, cubebackup etc etc. Can anyone offer any information on the above, preferably with pricing? I will be storing about 2.5 terabytes of data, and will probably only look to back up staff accounts and shared drives via the cloud due to costs. Thanks!

    As others have noted, I wouldn't be happy about that. It looks rushed... from the picture, it looks like you have some sort of cladding above a door (guess)? Why wouldn't they run the cable through that, and then run it up the corner out of sight?

    Looking at past eBay sold listings, just the GPU and CPU alone are fetching over £1000 together...! I would say it's a very good deal, like others have said - it will smash 1440p and probably run 4k on most titles quite comfortably.

    Managed to find some old checkpoints which amounted to a fair bit. Deleted them... now for the long wait of a merge in progress

    Wondering if someone can advise, as I have never come across/dealt with this before. We have a Server 2012 host, hosting two Server 2016 virtual machines. The VMs have been veeeeeery slow lately, I noticed the physical drive on the host (D drive) only has about 20gb of storage left, it's where the VHD files are stored etc.... eek. I know that deleting anything on the VMs won't free up any space on the host so my thought was to shrink each virtual drive on our VMs. Can anyone else advise? Thanks!
