Decided that I just need to take it one colour at a time. The cabinet has holes either side, so I will bunch each colour and run them down. I will be positioning both switches at the bottom though, as this way all cables will feed down, rather than some up and down. Thanks.

I never thought about this actually... but this could make sense. Although the patch cables would need to be quite long? to reach from the top patch panel to the switches at the bottom. Unless I am thinking of it differently?

Yeah to be fair, I think this makes the most sense. I might just have to accept I will have the odd cable looking a bit untidy!

Hi all, After some advice. It's on my summer list to organise the network cabinets and add some cable management. We have three cabinets, CAB 1 has two switches, CAB 2 has a single switch, and CAB 3 has a single switch. What makes it difficult is that each cab has soooo many patch panels. Panels from our old phone system etc. It's also quite evident that the previous IT person only put in enough switching capacity for what is being used, rather than for all of the patch panel ports. Normally I would simply follow the patch panel, cable holder, switch 'method' but I feel no matter where I place the switch, it will still look a mess. I am not sure what/how/where to place the switch to ensure it doesn't look a mess. I was hoping to see what other people have set up wise with only a single switch in their cabs. If I had it my way, I would rip it all out and start again, but I don't really have the time for this. TIA.

My old Trust was a similar size, although we had about 5 secondaries and 25 primaries. Each secondary had a senior tech and a junior. As our schools were spread out geographically, we had mobile technicians who would visit schools based on their home location; for example, I covered the schools closest to where I lived. There were five of us doing this, so we each had five schools to cover. Our IT Services Manager was also based at one of the secondary schools. To be honest, it was tough. We basically had no cover if one of us was ill or needed time off, as every day we were at a different school. Can't your Trust look into apprenticeships? we had some interest with this, when previously advertised.

Parago for us. Easy to use, and can be shared with our site team for general items around the schools/Trust. I do an audit once a year, and I just use the app on my iPad to 'check in' items. It's a breeze. I have used Snipe-IT and it is great, but we needed the ability to add other assets too.

Hi All, Looking for some advice. It appears that our Behringer RX1202FX sound mixer has given up today, it has done well (since 2008!) I am in the market for a replacement, but this is where I am not really knowledgeable in terms of this kind of equipment. I want to just swap it out for something very similar so it doesn't involve much user involvement (from me lol) I was tempted to just buy an exact copy of the model that failed? Can anyone recommend an alternative? TIA.

I know this thread is old, sorry! Oddly, our rx1202fx has decided to give up this week - after standing strong since 2008. I will be on the lookout for a new one... do you still recommend the option you decided to go with? I will be honest, sound equipment is not my forte, but ideally I just want to do a straight swap for a different model. Thanks!

Hi Chris, thanks for your response. I have actually been busy this morning setting up, and it's great! One thing though... When trying to add some of the screens into DMS through my desktop DMS Cloud (?) they fail to enrol. I get an error message 'Not Register'. Any ideas why this might be? 80% of them enrolled fine first time.

I would say this is one the biggest features they need to add for GCPW. Physical security keys... I would like to buy our staff a set of them, but having looked everywhere GCPW just doesn't seem to have this ability/feature. Standard 2FA works fine though, which I suppose is the main thing

You can use GCPW to authenticate windows with a Google account. This is what I use for about ~40+ windows devices running on Windows 11. Works very well, also uses SSO so users don't need to sign in separately to Gmail, or Google Drive. I can't comment on any possible issues running it with an Intune setup though, as we use Google Windows Device Management (Basically their equivalent to Intune)

Chromebooks all the way! But no, in all seriousness this is why I haven't opted for Intune. I just can't commit to something that costs so much money yet doesn't work seamlessly.
