  1. Hi All, I recently moved our DNS to our router/firewall via our ISP, but we're still using Active Directory with a domain controller, which we plan to decommission soon. The DNS migration and DHCP updates all went smoothly, and every device on our network now uses the new DNS address, which is great! However, there's an issue with our AD/domain-joined devices connecting to printers hosted on our domain controller using print management. Both the client devices and the printers have the new DNS address, but they're not connecting properly. When I temporarily used the old DNS address on the printers, it worked. I've updated the DNS address on the print server, but I'm not sure what else might be causing this issue. Am I overlooking something obvious? Thanks!
  2. Hi all, Can anyone using Google Workspace please explain to me their process when carrying out a SAR request? So far, I have exported relevant details from Google Vault. However, I have come across the 'Data Export' feature of which it lets me choose a specific user. Would this export hold all of the information I have recently taken from Vault? Is the 'Data Export' sufficient enough? I just don't want to end up having multiple files filled with the same information. Thanks!
  3. Hi all, Can anyone please tell me what settings/restrictions are included in this overall CSP policy? ./Vendor/MSFT/SharedPC/SetEduPolicies TIA
  4. Strange that they are not offering the SSO service anymore... I didn't actually implement it, the previous network manager did. I like the look of cloudwise that @Alis_Klar mentioned.
  5. As someone else has mentioned I believe you need to choose the option for the added 8gb on the Apple website. You could give this website a go, they were my previous supplier for iPads/Apple technology in my last role, there is an option to add an extra 8gb of ram (£200) - https://www.wearesync.co.uk/product/apple-macbook-air-m1-8core-256gb-space-grey/ I will add... that the only gripe with mine, is that it only has two usb-c ports. However, I rarely find myself needing more. If I did, there are plenty of 'docks' available on Amazon from companies such as Anker etc.
  6. I use a Macbook air M1 (2020) between sites at work. I love it. It's portable, light, powerful, and the battery easily lasts me all day!
  7. I have used Meraki MDM for management of iPads and Android tablets before and it worked quite well. Could be worth a look?
  8. I have used Freshdesk at both of my positions within schools/MATs. https://support.freshdesk.com/en/support/home It's simple to use, has a mobile app, and they have a "free" version which limits you to a certain number of agents (but still includes lots of features). This might be good if you are a smallish MAT. Happy to answer any questions about it, if you have any.
  9. Thanks for your reply, do you use this MAT wide for each school? or would it be £350 per school per year?
  10. Thanks for your reply. Isn't SCR tracker now part of SignInApp? -https://www.signincentralrecord.com/ I do like the look of their software, and at £350 a year I feel it is fairly priced.
  11. Hi Everyone, I was just wondering if any MATs out there use dedicated SCR software? I am looking to set this up us, but there are so many options. We currently use SignInApp and they have an add on for SCR creation. Or there is https://onlinescr.co.uk/ or we could even use the add-on for MyConcern called 'Sentry' Does anyone have any experience with these, to offer an opinion? TIA
  12. Ok great, thanks! My only concern was that the U6 enterprise APs are over double the weight of the U6 Pro's.
  13. Oh wow great! I was hoping someone else might be too. So are you going to using the existing plastic mounting plates for the U6s?
  14. Hi all, I am rolling out a wireless upgrade at one of my schools over the summer holidays. They currently have UniFi UAP-AC-PRO's with the plastic mounting brackets. I am upgrading them to the U6 Enterprise access points and these come with the metal mounting brackets. I have read online that these brackets are cross-compatible, and I can use the AC-PRO brackets to mount the U6s - can anyone confirm if this is true? TIA
  15. haha! that is a worse case scenario - I should have those core services (AD, print management) moved to cloud based applications over the coming weeks. Just after something that essentially "could" run them comfortably without a £4500 + price tag. As this would be completely overkill for them!
  16. Hi, thanks for your reply! what about something like this... https://www.serversdirect.co.uk/p/1694701/dell-emc-poweredge-t150-xeon-e-2314-2.8ghz-8gb-1tb-hdd-tower-server There is a small possibility that it may need to also run a single VM (Active Directory) for a small amount of time, but its main purpose will be running DNS, DHCP.
  17. Thanks for your reply! I am onsite 5 days a week so access isn't really an issue for me.
  18. The school uses SWGFL and as far as I'm aware there is no self service access for DHCP on the juniper router.
  19. Hi Everyone, I am looking to migrate our schools DNS and DHCP over the summer holidays - I did think about hosting these on their firewall, but I would like access if needed. I am looking at purchasing a Micro computer/server to host these services on, maybe something like this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-Optiplex-Desktop-Computer-D10U001/dp/B08SMSFV7R/ref=sr_1_3?crid=31HTKAIGS3BV6&keywords=dell+micro+pc&qid=1688402474&sprefix=dell+micro+pc%2Caps%2C78&sr=8-3 Can anyone see any downsides to this? It will only be used for these two services, and nothing else. TIA.
  20. Hi, thanks for your reply! Yes I do have a UI account, which was odd. Anyway, I just decided to take a back up and reset the cloud key. I was then able to link it to my UI account on the setup page. Sorted.
  21. I have decided to block all access to 3rd party apps with Google accounts. Even for OU's labelled as over 18... this way I can just approve any manually if needed.
  22. Hi all, Our old IT support provider is trying to migrate ownership of our cloudkey to myself. However, when they try to do this, it says that there are no available users to transfer it to. I have an admin account on the CK with full management permissions, so not sure why it isn't listing myself? Is this some sort of bug in UniFi? TIA.
  23. Hi all, I am looking for some suggestions on backup broadband connections for a couple of my schools that rely heavily on cloud services, such as Google workspace, Arbor, etc. I though about 5G but as we are located in Cornwall, it is pretty much pointless. Both schools main broadband lines are with SWGfL but I am not sure if they offer any redundancy options? Does anyone else mind sharing if they have a back up line, FTTC, FTTP? It doesn't need to be great, just something that could keep them going for essential work. TIA.
  24. The only thing I can think of is DNS. The cloudkey is set to use the internal DNS rather than 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1. I suppose changing it could be the fix.
  25. Thanks for your help everyone. I just followed the advice from Ubiquiti website... https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/115012240067-UniFi-Network-Remote-Access-Requirements I will speak to our ISP again and see if they can help. The CK is running the latest firmware. Thanks!
