As far as I'm aware, this is standard behavior for GCPW - if you are not using the AD attribute setting. I use GCPW for our staff without the AD option as we ditched our server a while ago, along with Active Directory. When a new user signs into to GCPW it creates them a local account on the device. I may be wrong, but I don't think there is a way around this...

I have been using Action1 for about a year on 50 of our Windows devices. I have nothing but good things to say about it. I use the features all the time, PowerShell scripting, checking for vulnerabilities, and the remote desktop feature which is super handy. Their support is great too, if I ever had a question or wanted advice on the correct setting to apply, they were always happy to help. I also use it for deploying generic apps to newly built devices too, like MS Teams, Adobe, Google Drive, Chrome etc. Hope this helps

They would need to be a manager of the drive to be able to do this unfortunately. They can move files, just not folders. EDIT - Take a look at this permission guide. I found/still find it very useful. https://support.google.com/a/users/answer/12380484?hl=en

Hi Everyone, I have a few iPads currently on iOS 16 that seem to be having issues deploying apps from Mosyle. I have the app profile assigned to the shared device group, and l definitely have enough licenses for each app. If I deploy the apps manually (individually) it seems to work, but before I do this, it states 'Waiting for VPP'. I have our VPP account linked, as I have been deploying apps to iOS 17 devices fine. Wasn't sure if this was a generic bug/problem with Mosyle and iOS 16... Thanks!

I feel as though this is the issue with PCP, they are very much designed for customers who will continue to use the 3 year 'swap-in swap-out' system. If it was me and the balloon payment at the end was potentially less than the value of the car... I would probably use my savings to make the payment and then sell the car privately.

I totally understand this, and in some ways agree. I think I am just really surprised more than anything that this is the route schools take to essentially fund a 1:1 device scheme. The way I see it though, is that schools are legally required to ensure devices meet the DfE's filtering and monitoring standards. This means they have no choice but to implement the necessary precautions for this to happen, if they need those devices forced to a particular SSID (which requires a device license) while at school in order for them to receive the correct filtering level, its down to them... and I think it's quite cheeky for the parents to be paying for it to happen!

Yeah I don't disagree with a payment for misc. items such as bags, chargers (if broken) etc. But anything to do with how the device functions I just can't get on board with. Its the schools responsibility... so why are the parents paying?

Unless you are replacing the device with an exact model, in which case the license can be moved.

Exactly this... Its the schools job to ensure the device is safe and secure for pupil use (when connected to their/any network). If they insist on this, they should be the ones paying for the license (In my opinion) Its like asking a student to contribute towards their Microsoft license so they can use the office suite.... they shouldn't have to as its down to the school to provide the necessary tools and services needed.

What Primus said, £30 is roughly the cost of a device license. Surprised they aren't supplying the license though, considering you are paying for the cost of the device.

Oh that is odd. After reading online, this does seem to be the case for areas where FTTP is still un-available to them. The only offering is SoGEA instead. However... SoGEA seems to be just another name for an FTTC connection that only carries data, rather than a typical FTTC connection that carries voice + data.

The UI is good, and regular updates are available for it so I suppose it shows they actively like to solve any issues customers might be having. I can't really comment on the panel quality to much (compared to something more expensive). But to me, it's great quality. The sound is also really good. Our living room isn't huge, but also isn't small and it's quite immersive.

I have always had Hisense. Our most recent is a 55" QLED, can't fault it. Think at the time it cost about £500, maybe even less.

I would have (in your instance) 1 - Trust Network Manager (based at central office) 2 - A Senior & A Junior technician at each secondary. 3 - 2/3 mobile technicians to cover those primary schools. The 3rd would be to provide cover for annual leave etc. (Unless term time absence is not allowed)

Yeah, it's just PTSN that's being switched off. It was due to end in 2025 I believe, but this has now been delayed until 2027, I think they realised that lots of businesses aren't ready for that change quite yet... FTTC is fine though.

I have used Green IT disposal (https://www.greenitdisposal.co.uk/) quite a few times before and their service has always been great. They only charge for the collection if you have under a certain number of qualifying items, so I would double check with them first. They don't take interactive screens though.

To restrict access during exams, I would create temporary profiles in your MDM. For example, if you use Mosyle, I could create an Exam Layout profile that only lists the required apps. Additionally, I would create a block/allow apps profile to disable Safari and Chrome. These profiles could then be disabled/enabled as and when needed.

I have been looking into Robot Vacuums also. If I was going to purchase one, I would probably go for the Xiaomi (https://www.mi.com/uk/product/xiaomi-robot-vacuum-x10-plus/) I really rate their products, and I think they are fairly priced.

3cx here, cloud hosted via a local MSP. Yealink handsets. Can be slightly annoying that I don't have access myself to make quick changes. But they never take more than an hour to reply.

This^ they can't be managed by Google Workspace unfortunately.
