  1. It is, to their credit though they have improved the software and there have been no submission issues this year but it was painfully obvious when it first came out that it wasn't 100% ready.
  2. Very good point, when the whole Surpass SecureClient software was rolled out and one of the first exams took place their servers couldn't handle all the students taking the exam in the country at the same time. It took pretty much a day before it was able to be submitted. And that was just A Level students not even GCSE's!
  3. I was going to suggest Xibo. They appear to have recently added a "Countdown" widget too which you could schedule to play at certain times. But the countdown widget looks like it should do what you're looking for. Will be a headache and a time sink but it'll future proof your signage and you can just load the powerpoints into Xibo and schedule them to play on whatever screen you wish, similar to how you're remoting on with the PC's and loading powerpoints. https://xibosignage.com/manual/en/media_module_countdown
  4. What signage software do you use for your displays?
  5. Was about to post in this thread asking if anyone has read this! My favourite trilogy of books. Revised editions are very good. Looking forward to the TV show that's now in the works for it. Another Book trilogy similar to Pug's story is Trudi Canavan's Black Magician Trilogy. Definitely worth a read.
  6. We use Jamf, really really powerful and quick. Profiles apply pretty much immediately and its easy enough to secure them. Also useful to apply policies and reset passcodes!!
  7. Yeah most dictation services including word/365 require an internet connection. Dragon is the only one i've seen so far that will work offline.
  8. Hi Wobbles, I'm currently setting up Dragon Naturally Speaking with an exam laptop which doesn't have an internet connection. Very good bit of software.
  9. All good here and we use Greenhouse. Currently doing some work on it.
  10. Ofsted didn't call but they did look at our term dates. Still monitoring. As far as I know yes it's just Greenhouse and as for how their algorithm works it's a company secret so I don't know if it runs via GA. In their CMS you can setup your own "Document Alerts" and you can see who has downloaded a PDF from our policies and identify a potential trend, in addition to their early warning system.
  11. Wow that's pretty shocking. Never seen one with a bulging battery. Usually the display backlights fail for us. We've phased them out now. We have some Lenovo 100e's and Dell Latitude 3190's and they are much better than the Geobooks which are basically better used as coffee mats.
  12. Thanks for the tip. Read and write access got it to the login screen.
  13. Hi Sameer, I've been in my current role for just about 2 years now and have been looking to move on, I've found that the IT Career Questions subreddit is really useful when looking for other people's experiences and their recommendations on how to break into IT and specific roles, just search "Cloud" or something similar: https://www.reddit.com/r/ITCareerQuestions/ Alternatively one resource I've been looking at is "Developer Roadmaps": https://roadmap.sh/ It's a community made site on how to get into a specific development area. I'm currently working through ASP.NET Core as I used ASP.NET with MVC during my University Degree. Hopefully these resources are useful to you. As others have said it is very unlikely you will find a fully remote role in education. Best of luck in your search and with the certifications!
  14. I'm expecting it to potentially go towards amber in places as temperatures have been quite humid.
  15. Yep... and then you try to run it again and it still thinks there's an instance running in the background.
  16. We use forms and automate here and it has been very much appreciated by the admin team. We have helped set some up ourselves. Sounds like they have a training need to get to grips with automate? EDIT: It may be something you'll need to assist them with at least for the initial part with automate.
  17. The login screen showed up on the left one which is expected but the right one still wouldn't wake. I'm out of ideas.
  18. Haven't tried that yet I'll give it a go and see what it does.
  19. Hi all, This one really has me stumped and would appreciate any suggestions to try to remedy this. A member of the admin team has a dual monitor setup, both the exact same model and both displaying 1920 x 1080. One of them is connected via DVI cable and one of them via HDMI cable into the PC's graphics card. Their right monitor (Labelled 1) is their main screen and the left monitor (2) is their secondary screen and they're using the extend projection setting. When they lock the computer and leave it for a bit the PC goes into sleep mode like any other PC would and the monitors both turn themselves off which is standard, nothing out of the ordinary there. The issue is when they return to their PC and try and wiggle the mouse or press a key on the keyboard to wake the PC so they can log back in the left secondary monitor powers on and it's just blank (because of extend) and the right main monitor just refuses to wake and display the standard login screen. They have to press the menu button or the power button on the monitor to get it to display again. Things I've tried: Installing a graphics card and updating the drivers(previously it was just using the inbuilt intel graphics) Swapping the display cables Checked both of the monitors menu's to see if there is a setting that is different but it's identical. At my wits end so would appreciate any suggestions or ideas
  20. I don't mind the sun it's just the constant unbearable humidity and the ability of UK buildings to retain heat.

    Fable (4)

Cool trailer but come on Playground and Microsoft we want to see some gameplay!
  22. I feel you, Thankfully our Librarian and the staff are very good when it comes to exams and rooming, it gets booked out pretty much the day before so it gives us time to go in and check everything's working etc. Students pulling out space bars has gotten out of control here and we can't replace them as quickly as they're going. I've had to run Secureclient twice on machines to get and apply updates before it goes in as standard but now that they've sorted out the server issues on their end this has been pretty much pain free this year so far.
  23. Agree, it's a personal device so would not fall under your support to the school.
  24. We got the message today. Great Stuff from Greenhouse, expecting the call any minute!
  25. I've got a 1080ti. Very good but I do want to upgrade myself!
