Are you an LA School or an Academy/Free School? As far as I'm aware, your LA do not have right to mandate what tools you use in either circumstance. I would turn around to the LA and say if they require you to use something, they can assume the costs of that mandated product.

You can use both on the same domain. You just need to run with one or the other for email, really. You can do both, but its needlessly complicated. You're definitely going to need a teaching and learning policy regarding what tools should be used. You can't sensibly run teaching and learning by having half the departments on Classroom and half on Teams. As a school you need to pick a platform and stick to it. Half waying it won't work. Students will lose all track of what they're supposed to be doing.

Why wouldn't you? Block Cloudfront to stop them watching trailers and videos perhaps... Otherwise, why not?

Looks like there is something at their side that's triggering Google's filtering. You can point fingers of something wrong at Google's side, but the odds are it isn't.

Anyway, does anyone use any service they could recommend at the moment, or have a way to parse the XML files locally rather than a web based solution?

There are entire species that have evolved, reached their peak and gone extinct in the time between when SIMS 8 was first announced, and today. I think it's been 8 years since it was first announced, and 4 years since they announced it was launching "next year" In a previous job I had a demo of SIMS 8 to head off the growing number of schools in our LEA that were looking at cloud based solutions. That was April 2018, and SIMS 8 is no closer. SIMS 8 was announced the same year Lyft, Wish.com. VoxMedia, SnapChat, Slack, Spotify and Uber were formed. We're a Bromcom school. I don't think anyone is regretting moving away from SIMS. The integration (for us) with Google Workspace, and having that anywhere, anytime access has been a massive boost during lockdown. Let alone not having to deal with SQL, Servers and SOLUS. I'd presume the LEA are dangling a carrot for you.

For me, the TV stuff is just an extension of Smallville. It's all Dawson's Creek esque teen drama that I have zero interest in watching. Snyder was never the man to do it either, his objectivist streak doesn't fit with DC, as you can see with his handling of Superman. Matt Reeves being handed The Batman after what he managed with the 2nd and 3rd of the Planet of the Apes reboots, Cloverfield and Let Me In (the Let The Right One In remake) is absolutely down my street though!

I would look at having a default home page on their browser that has a lot of shortcuts to the various web based tools they're using.
