I must admit, its going to be curious to see yet another blip on the graph when the schools are open, and the rates rise, then they close for a week or two and they start stablising being excused as "reflecting not driving community transmission" yet again. As the virus takes a few weeks to take hold, and another few weeks to pass through people's systems, it seems really coincidental that we're set up for three weeks allowing it to take hold and two weeks to pass through people's systems, doesn't it?

It's hard to justify the cost of £5000 for a domain name with public sector money. I'd go for the school's name, generally at that point.

The thing with Dualless, is that its a very quick way to split the screen, rather than trying to show staff how its possible on different devices (each with their own slightly different behaviour) dualless behaves the same on Windows, Mac and Chrome - so its more useful to just give them that. Make it clear that support for extensions is as-is, and can't be given wider as they are third party tools. Anyway, we have left most of them open but I started just before the pandemic, and it wasn't time to rock the boat on extensions and allowing them or disallowing them. I think we're going to move to a white list when things start to get back to normal, and when there is a sufficient lull to enact it. Possibly over the summer.

Depends what kinds of businesses you'd want to support. The Education IT space is... rather aggressive. You'd be likely to pick up some primary schools, but the MAT/Secondary space is full of people who'll happily throw FUD around to diminish your opportunities!

Adobe gives you two options: 1. Named user (ie each user that needs it is licensed) or 2. Classroom License (ie you license particular machines) First one has a 500 user minimum at £4.21 per license per year (so £2,105 min) or Second one has a 25 seat minimum at £21.12 per license per year (so £528 a year) Obviously, the more users or seats, the lower the per license per year goes. So it depends if you have dedicated number of machines that would be the only machines with Adobe CC on - or you want to license the users which would allow them to also install it at home too.

For filtering, no. Not really. It's a bit too expensive server wise to give away free. Securly and Lightspeed are the best two cloud based filters out there. No, extensions are user-based, and domain based, so they apply to users in your domain only... Though Securly and Lightspeed both know not to activate the extension if they're logging in to Chrome on a non-Chromebook device. It'll install but it won't do anything. You would apply the extension across your users, so anyone who logs in on your accounts would get the extension. You can limit the Chromebooks to only login to your domain too.

There is no edit history in Jamboard. The only way to see whose editing it is live when the edit is being made, you can see the icon of the person making the edit/penstroke/image insert etc.

Everyone report it. Through the console support as well as on Google Classroom. The more that do, the more they'll notice it's an issue!

Yes. We've had reports of this a lot today. I've reported it to Google via the Admin Console, and they've asked me to get staff to use the "Report issue or request feature" option under the Question Mark at the bottom left to let them know. The more that do it, the more they'll notice the issue.

They'd still be able to do this adhoc, they just wouldn't have to do it for timetabled classes. New student turns up? The day they're enrolled, they already have their classes good to go. Automatic provisioning and deprovisioning. Automatic linking with their respective classes. Automatic suspension of users when they leave. It really is useful. Takes a communication layer issue away. We'd have students leave and not necessarily know they had previously. Now it's not an issue. Keep things like Year Group groups automatically up to date. Staff mailing groups etc. Staff and student timetables pulled directly into their calendar. Some staff don't like it (you can manually turn it off for those) but most our staff love having it in Google for quick reference on their phones. It's been very very reliable for us, it syncs overnight but you can also do a manual sync when a staff member is in a rush (so for example, they need to attach a TA to a class temporarily) The YouTube link above!

Hi Kenny, we've set up the Google equivalent to this and we were an early adopter of it, but it is very similar from what I'm aware of. It's been very smooth overall. Your only issue will be to make sure that the users you already have in Bromcom are matched to those in 365, but Bromcom has plenty of test tools so you can see if it isn't managing to automatically match users, and you can manual match any with issues (such as someone being Mike in 365, but Michael in Bromcom). I'd say out of 1300 children, I had to manually match about 30. So it wasn't so bad for us. Bromcom becomes your single point of truth, so any changes that need to be made to staffing or students will need to be in their, rather than on 365, so be prepared for that with your office staff/data team. I just have a Google Site and point it to a domain via Google Domains. Keep it simple for what I need a site for. Though I will be expiring it soon as I don't really do anything with it any more, and it's name isn't relevant to the topic these days. I used to do a lot with Mediawiki back in the day, so I might go back to a solution using that as it's core, as I usually use my site as publically available instructions and notes for things I'm working on.

Saturday - Yellow warning for snow immediately over my area for overnight Saturday into Sunday. Told several inches possible. Sunday - Nothing. It tried but immediately melted. No more warnings for the rest of the week. Monday - Woke up to a light dusting of snow that the forecast didn't predict. Now I know it's not an exact science, but you just feel that the forecasts are getting worse the more supercomputers they throw at them!

I am not responsible for our roll out, but I'm told its around the 120 mark for our secondary and 40 for our primary. DfE won't provide us with anymore either. I think we can all agree, all this is doing is highlighting the fact that one-to-one programmes are now LONG overdue in many schools.

That is all going to depend on how they plan to reopen I think. They're going to need to go slowly and methodically. There are a fair few in the political sphere who are keen to go for a big bang reopening of schools on 8th March, but I think the government current plan is to go slower than that and do it stage by stage and watch the community transmission as they do so. I just hope they don't blow it and we end up with yet another lockdown after everything.
