Too expensive for us to contemplate at the moment unfortunately. Logistically, we want a single number for people to call, internal extensions, and any external calls being made to be routed to appear through that number, rather than each line having it's own unique number. If that were possible, and therefore the costs brought down significanly because each line didn't get it's own external number, then it's something we would consider. But as it stands, it doesn't suit us.

They could still copy/paste the URL from the meeting and send it to external users to knock. They'll still need a Google account to knock, and the knock is only seen by staff, so it might be disruptive but two rejections and it should be over. Unless they have multiple accounts and are determined to cause problems. Kids are also... "unthinking" enough to send that URL out via Gmail, so it might be worth checking Vault for that URL being emailed out too.

I don't believe you need to transfer that control to be able to buy licenses, or have them applied. You certainly don't with Management Licenses, so I don't see how it'd be different with Enterprise ones. I'll check with some reseller people I know though!

You'd need to find a way of defining the first letter of the name in SIMS, then pointing your sync tool to that as the first name. They will find out their first names anyway. Taking them off your online platforms is very much a King Canute kinda move. If we could find them all out in the 90s, the 2020s will be no different, digital or not.

Are they using the built-in sound card? SSD or HDD? I used to get tons of interference with sound cards and HDDs when they really started spinning up. Tried a USB headset?

Ahh. I'm guessing you're in one of those schools where every single child is vulnerable or the child of a critical worker then? No one is saying every teacher stays at home, just that you don't need every teacher on-site to look after a sub-set of children. I'd have thought that would be plainly obvious when you end up with a situation that the number of teachers on-site ends up outnumbering the number of students.

They're not injecting children, so it's more like 52,000,000. It also requires two injections, so that's quite useful maths wise... 104,000,000 injections at a rate of 2,000,000 a week means it'll take almost exactly a year. That's assuming a perfect 2 million a week, every week without supply chain issues or missed bookings and that every adult gets it. Even if it's 94% we're still looking at 48,000,000 adults.

I bite my lip on the armed forces numbers. They always seem to be able to pull a few thousand from somewhere. I mean, the secondary schools have been given 0.5 soldiers each to help with the new track and trace system for schools! But anyway, it seems companies like Tesco are also offering some of their logistics infrastructure to help. They've got tons of refridgerated vans. Just need to hope they can produce the numbers of vials needed at speed now.

The thing is, they can't call Education their first priority if they then don't reflect that in the vaccination regime. Ultimately, they want schools open because they see them as child care to allow parents to work. It's got very little to do with the actual education, we know this. Yes. The hospital admissions and daily deaths numbers are really the only statistics we have that can use to reliably compare March/April/May to now. They're pretty close to what we were seeing mid April last year. Difference being, that was the peak. We don't know that the numbers we seeing now will be the peak too. I would expect that before too long the Government will announce that any school teachers or support staff, nursery staff and university staff that aren't covered by the current list of priorities will become a new priority group. They don't want to be seen to be bowing to the unions, ultimately. But they'll have to if they want to be taken seriously at any level.

The worst mistake Promethean made was to continue supporting ActivInspire and not sticking to their resolve of moving support away and going purely to Classflow. That damned application is going to trap schools for another decade yet. The answer they're not going to like, is that they need to start moving their resources to other solutions. Start creating all new ones on Classflow, or through Slides etc. They need to refresh their resources, can't stick to the same ones forever!

On the contrary, Google want people accessing Chrome, and they want people to access it in whatever way they can. The move from old Windows kit to the same kit with Neverware is far less frustrating than sticking with Windows. Neverware isn't designed to replace people moving to Chromebooks, it's designed as a stepping stone to move them over gradually where the finances won't let them do so otherwise. We all seem to be lucky that we work in schools where IT is a priority for them, but I've come across many schools in previous work where they have 400+ children and the budget to buy perhaps 10 or 15 devices at most. If they can stretch that budget over the 50+ cranky old Windows machines temporarily and get better performance, better battery life and smoother setup and configuration then Google have clearly recognised there is a gap in the market that Neverware can fill. They've been working closely with Neverware for a long time now, including having them on their stands at BETT many times, and working with them when Neverware UK were Flint OS. They also offer a Neverware/Education License bundle. Having worked directly with the Chrome team, the Education team and Neverware before and after it was Flint OS in the UK, they work very, very closely together and always have. This isn't acquire to kill, it's a strategic move for Education and Enterprise. None of the behaviours I've seen shows signs of a company who are killing a product off, quite the opposite in fact.

Doubt it. It's a really useful half-way house for Google, especially when schools want to get onto the Chrome ecosystem, but can't necessarily afford to replace aging kit. £600 a year to turn 30 stale Macbooks into Chrome machines and use it as a gateway to converting further down the line? No brainer.

For education anonymous isn't a thing. You always need a Google account to join Education Meets, unless you specifically asked Google support to switch it off. You can still be sent the link and attempt to join an Education Meet but you'll need a Google account to be able to even ask to join. If you are invited by calendar, you can join a meeting you've been invited to when Quick Access is turned off. If you're not invited and quick access is turned off, you will have to ask to join.
