Hello everyone,

I'm Jason and I'm one of our IT Deskside Managers at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. Been working in higher ed for almost 15 years now, worked my way up from a computer lab attendant through our deskside team into system administration and now managing that same team. Plus I oversee deskside purchasing for IT for our campus

New user might be a bit of a stretch, but I thought I'd do a new introduction anyway as it's been a little while.

Things have changed a bit and mostly nowadays my only contact with schools is running security awareness training, or talking to students about why they should definitely work in cyber security. Bumped into some edugeek notifications while looking through my junk folder and thought I'd check if the door was still open.

Junk? Junk?! Edugeek notifications (when/if they arrive - but that’s another story!) are FAR too important to go into the junk folder!

Seriously, welcome back!

...also, not a new user but a returning one, back once again to make bad puns and try not to derail threads!

Now I'm running the network in a University campus and loving every minute of it.

Welcome back! You must be at a different Uni to a friend I was speaking to who I hadn't seen for ages. We were both surprised that we'd ended up in EDU IT, but I pointed out that he was at a much higher level than me. His reply? "No, still mainly resetting passwords!"

The last password I reset was over 6 months ago, and I've only had to reset three in the year and a half I've been here... bliss!

Probably a certain taste as well - and not necessarily a very nice one!

A quick intro is all. Got referred to this site, so checking it out. All the best.

Welcome! Good to have you along. We’re not all as mad as some of the posts might suggest! (Well, I’m not, anyway - can’t speak for some of the others...)

:rolleyes: :troll::welcome:

I used to write atrocious code now I teach atrocious kids. Thinking about switching back some day perhaps - why is so much educational software so bad? Edited by elsiegee40
