Hello everyone,

Hi all,

I made my account a while ago but never actually took advantage of the site here. Just finished my apprenticeship so quite new to the industry

Happy to be here :)

Yeah - I'm just worried that new people are dragging me into something already???????

I mean - I get into enough trouble on my own - and with the help of the old lot

new people helping out could get amphibian!!!

Hello everyone! I'm Andrea and I'm excited to learn more with you!

Hello, Andrea. Welcome to Edugeek. Plenty going on here, more than only the technical stuff!

Hi all!

I'm an ICT Technician based in the midlands

Day to day I support an 800ish 1 to 1 iPad deployment, along with a couple hundred windows machines and laptops and then a handful of printers on top

Outside of work I'm an avid photographer and LAN party engineer/host/volunteer - there's a pretty niche joy in setting up a temporary infrastructure capable of handing a few thousand users for it to be ripped down a couple of days later!

Currently looking to further my knowledge when it comes to network infrastructure (mainly practicing with the use of a pretty hefty homelab, courtesy of the guys/gals over at /r/homelab)

My homelab at the moment consists of a couple of Dell r620's, running a few windows servers, windows clients, a couple of linux boxes - one of which for my Unifi AP controller, a pfSense instance, and a separate r620 loaded with docker images for gameservers

See you all around!

Stars and rep on here are subject to a complex formula that has been explained

somewhere

basically it is just magic

So I suppose I have not been 100% polite because I have already done a post over in that organizing an office thread.

And my age must be showing because I was looking for an intro place and couldn't find it --- I mean this is the "General" sub-forum and I sure didn't see that as I was scrolling up and down that menu of sub-forms.

It is fun to blame all those careless types of happenings on age.

Another problem I have is I've never been big on dishing out much information on who I am, as if anyone would really care, anyway. But I do tend to try and limit that sort of information online, even on a friendly discussion platform. This is a friendly bunch of folks here, yes?

Oh yes, one big secret I'll share with you --- I love asking leading questions.

No problem with keeping some information back. I did it because I didn't want my school to find my posts. Even though I am no longer working, I still don't want them (my posts) found. One of my posts was found (a LONG time ago now) and a LOT of trouble ensued.

Others will have their own thoughts.

Friendly? Yes, it's very friendly here. However, you will have to develop a tolerance for corny jokes if you visit one or two of the threads...

May I ask if it is possible to remove that regional identifying image I see under my 'Member' thingy and User ID?

Sorry I am taking advantage of the situation in this thread, but that is exactly the sort of thing I meant about not sharing information. It seems sort of _ _ _ well, sorry _ _ _ can it be removed?

Well they are still in the process of moving the forum to a new platform, so might not be something that can be done at present
