LeMarchand Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 (edited) If anyone remembers when Avast Antivirus launched their Avast Free for Education program in the USA (circa 2012?), I was among the few people who helped to conceive of and get that going (I still have the shirt!). Welcome! ...and, got any pull with them still? Some of us were using the UK version but have (mainly) been told to pay up . The cheek of it! Edited November 5, 2018 by LeMarchand
MforShort Posted November 7, 2018 Posted November 7, 2018 Hi, having just read some of the hellos on here I maybe completely out of my depth. I am an Exams Officer and Data Administrator in an all-through independent school in Bristol. We use SIMS and various add-ons and of course I am also an MSOffice user. I think I am way more likely to ask for help than to provide it. Within the school I try to support the IT team by fielding user related questions from our more IT illiterate staff and also provide various training on the systems that we use.
AJWhite1970 Posted November 7, 2018 Posted November 7, 2018 Hi @MforShort and welcome along. There are plenty of other Exams Officers here, many do the role as their primary job, some of us (are forced to) cover the role when our own Exams Officer is away rocking in a darkened room muttering about prelim windows and clashes. Fire away with questions and I'm pretty sure one of us has been there already
MforShort Posted November 7, 2018 Posted November 7, 2018 (edited) Thank you for that @AJWhite1970 - it really made me laugh! I know just how the poor soul feels. Edited November 7, 2018 by MforShort
CSmith12 Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Hi all, Been visiting these forums for a few months and thought I'd sign up as it seems a great place to share/gain knowledge (more gaining than sharing on my part, but, you never know). Found a lot of solutions to my SIMS problems on here (thank you everyone). I work in a secondary school in West Yorkshire. 'Just' admin but use SIMS a lot, started to delve into the more advanced reporting and found I really enjoyed it (Excel and Macros, wowee!), so found a fair few questions have arisen (unlucky, folks!). Popular Post leemunton2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Popular Post Posted December 4, 2018 Hi Everyone. I've been on here before but years ago. Recently had some hard times in my current role, as Network Manager but things are starting to turn around. Change in management is starting to make me feel appreciated again and my love of the job and IT is starting to come back. Thought I'd come back here as I used to love this site back in the day so I'm back :-) 6
