I am exactly 50/50 there is no one else remaining I trust to do the IT in this place / drinking tea and nodding wisely at people is nice at the moment... webscontent Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 (edited) Hi all, I'm currently living in West Sussex and am one of those "used to be a teacher" people. I have been teaching for about 15 Years. Mostly ICT but occasionally branching out into Business. I started in FE then after a few years managed to get a job at an International School in Vietnam. I loved it! I did that for three years then moved to Oman for three years. Then for some reason, that I'm not entirely sure of, I moved back to this wet rainy Island and started a Web Company providing web design and lots of things to do with Moodle. At the same time I worked at a Primary School teaching ICT. The business died after a quite spectacular Kernel Panic incident. I suddenly had two angry clients who's data had evaporated. I had an interesting, stressful time caught between those two companies and this American web host who were unable to recover any data. It was quite an episode which I am now turning into a book "Kernel Panic, Honey I lost the data!". As part of the data loss, I did receive ten years of server space that I am now equipping with Cpanel and Web Host Manager Complete Solution. I'm a bit of a techhead, been fiddling with computers since they came out in the 80's. Yeah, I'm that old. Dad started the local computer club here and helped to install the first IBM computer in Melbourne in the 60's Yay! Ummm... I have a teaching diploma and some certs in business management as well as IT. I have my own business selling and repairing computers & solving small business network issues. I also do business consulting, mainly along the lines of social media and I also do websites for clients. Phew. And I volunteer a couple of days a week at a local Community House - a kind of drop in centre for people (mainly old people) to learn computers & do crafts. We do lots of crafts. 1

I was previously an operations manager for a company who specialise in IT (companies outsource to them). I have worked in the education sector for a year and half now. I still work alongside the other company as an IT technician when we are on half terms. 2
