ful56_uk Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I like the sound of that pricing. When is a demo going live so I can have a look. Really interested in the asset management. Can you link assets to users and follow the history of the assets regarding any support request made againest it and also ownership of asset.
Crispin Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Really like the idea of being able to link an asset with a user. Would definitely help stop our laptops 'wandering' off.

Can you link assets to users and follow the history of the assets regarding any support request made againest it and also ownership of asset. When an incident is logged there is an oportunity to add an asset tag nuimber which will link the incident to the asset, within the incident itself you can view all information regarding the asset as well as it's problem history. Incidents can be logged and assets can be linked at a later stage if needed also. We are hoping to get our online demos updated with the new version within the next week.

vikpaw Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Or are you... First post by a new user and they advertise two competitors, one of which doesn't look great but the other quite attractive? (Wondering if they represent the attractive company?) Well, it's not a 1st post. member been here since 2006. Plus, i think we all know how good MLH / OP Smartdesk is. There's a free version that will speak for itself, and if it doesn't the rest of us will! 1
ICTNUT Posted February 18, 2010 Author Posted February 18, 2010 As promised here is a sneek peek at the room booking facility: Sneek Peek: Room Booking | OP Software - Solutions for Education
mant01 Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 looking good Oz, cant wait till its released.
mb2k01 Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Well, it's not a 1st post. member been here since 2006. Plus, i think we all know how good MLH / OP Smartdesk is. There's a free version that will speak for itself, and if it doesn't the rest of us will! Indeed. Yep, I'll hold my hands up. Saw the 0's next to the two thanks lines and incorrectly assumed it was number of posts. Sorry Jazzy639.
Edu-IT Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 As promised here is a sneek peek at the room booking facility: Sneek Peek: Room Booking | OP Software - Solutions for Education How about setting periods when rooms cannot be booked. (Holidays, maintenance etc) Also could you perhaps differentiate somehow between resources and rooms? A drop down, one calendar showing resources and the other showing rooms? Just an idea of things I've seen and like on other systems. Will there also be options to easily print out these bookings? 1

As always feedback is very much welcomed, however, if we keep making changes at this point in time we will never get the new version released. Once the new version is out we have already setup an area where you can make feature requests and to let us know when things are not working quiet as they should. Suggestions like this should be logged within this area (i'll let you know where it is when the new version is out) and we can then look at each on based on it, ease of implementation, benefit to the masses, and thats just a damn good idea.
EduTech Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Yeah, Shh Edu-IT want this before christmas you know lol!! hehe Keep up the good work Ozan J 1

plexer Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Does the resource/room booking cater for 2 week time tables and holiday periods? Ben
Edu-IT Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Does the resource/room booking cater for 2 week time tables and holiday periods? Ben The holiday periods was the point I raised above. I guess not since he said it's too late to make changes for this release.
ICTNUT Posted February 21, 2010 Author Posted February 21, 2010 Does the resource/room booking cater for 2 week time tables and holiday periods? Ben The calendar is curently based on the way an Outlook calendar is viewed, holidays are not an issue as these are set times in most schools so simply adding a booking for that time is easy. 2 week timetables are proving to be an issue as are displying the calendar on a set period layout. I am sure these are all do'able but require time to investigate and develop, as per my response above lets get it out, get the feedback and create a development roadmap going.
dave.81 Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Is it wrong i'm really looking forward to this release. I am one of the newer customers but it's really improved the way i log faults and staff can see what is going on. The new bits like room booking and asset management will be brilliant too. Exciting... 1
ninjabeaver Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Room Booking as well. SWeeeeeeeeeeeet. Any idea on release date?
Crispin Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 I'm not trying to be a PITA or masquerading as a broken record, but is there any news on a release date? We have been tasked with implementing a helpdesk to comply with FITS. This was issued to us as a task in January and I really can't keep telling my manager's "it's being released soon, but don't know when." We will be forced to move over to the Richmond service desk if I can't give any kind of solid answer. I personally would really like to stay with OP but I can't justify the waiting any longer. I know this isn't Ozan's fault, and I'm really trying hard not to be pushy! I just really liked this solution and would hate all the anticipation to be wasted. Cheers Chris
Kitkatninja Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Apart from OP Software, I'm looking at DNA Helpdesk (it's ITIL so a more complex version of FITS) and Microsoft's own System Center Service Manager 2010. It's currently in beta, but it supports Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). We'll see if they're any good. -Ken

Cheers Chris The release dates are as follows: OPSD Lite - Will be available for download from 2nd March 2010 OPSD Pro - Will be available from 4th March 2010 OPSD Enterprise - Should be available from 8th March 2010 We are just putting finishing touches to the installation docs. Exisiting users will need to contact us if they are using MySQL as thier backend database so we can convert it for them. Our own support site will be updated later today as will the online demo. Hope this puts a smlie on for a Monday

Crispin Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Thanks Ozan! Great to hear news on release dates. We will definitely wait now. Will contact you on or after the release dates. Thanks again! Looking forward to seeing it all in action
