skunk Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Ok, silly question, what is the difference between the Lite, Pro and Enterprise editions.
Edu-IT Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Ok, silly question, what is the difference between the Lite, Pro and Enterprise editions. See: OP SmartDesk Update…. | OP Software - Solutions for Education New Software Editions When we release OP SmartDesk there will be 3 versions available: Lite or Free Version: This will provide entry level access to the world of helpesk software providing access to a single technician in order to log and track requests, unlimited user access and unlimited queues, however this version will not support email polling, SLAs, or asset management. There is no charge for this version. Pro Version: This supports unlimited technicians and users, unlimited queues, email polling, SLAs, and email notifications but will not include Asset Management. Enterprise Version: This is the same as the pro version but will also include Asset Management. 1

Crispin Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I know, I'm starting to get worried. We've had to say if we don't hear anything by Thursday then we're going to be forced over to Richmond's Service Desk. This will be a real pain. OP website not updated, nor is the online demo. No reply to emails either...Not happy to be honest. I'd rather be kept in the loop, and it be another week late, than not know anything at all.

GrumbleDook Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I know Oz has been heavily tied up with getting a number of legal / patent issues sorted and, to some extent, is in the hands of the folk with expensive watches and sleek suits. This is taking him away from being able to update certain things. I have been in touch with him over the last fortnight and I'll try and get an update over to you tomorrow. 1
EduTech Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Cheers Tony, I know he has been busy with that stuff and is the reason to as why i have not bothered him daily as i know he has his hands full.. Thanks Oz James. 1
ICTNUT Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 Hey all, Sorry for all the quiet of the past few days, I am the proud owner of a 2 year old with chicken pox and as of this afternoon got a call from the wife telling me she now has it. I am working as hard as I can to get this out to you all and I fully apreciate your loyalty and patience. Our website has been updated to show the new versions and we are in the process of updating the online demo which will be available from tomorrow morning. The lite version is available for download although you will need to register first to get it, this can be got at from -> OP SmartDesk Self Hosted --- OP Software Online Store we expect a high number of registrations for this and each account has to be approved to ensure provision to education only so it may take an hour or so to get your email and download link. The pro version will be availble for purchase from Friday onwards however we are still awaiting legal (patent) clearence on the Enterprise version. Grumbledook is indeed correct the suits are in control at the moment. However to upgrade from Pro to enterprise is simply a license key change so there is no reason to wait in order to upgrade if you are using MLH. We will start to contact exisiting customers from tomorrow in order to arrange an apropriate time to upgrade, due to no longer supporting MS Access and MySQL we will need to convert your database. Those that use MSSQL will still need a small amount of work done on your database but we will discuss each case in turn to ensure the best way forward. Again thanks for your continued support and patience.
Crispin Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Thanks for the update Oz. I totally appreciate you must be working very hard on this, especially under those difficult circumstances! We will hold on til Friday. Thanks again chris 1
linkazoid Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Hi Ozan, Many Thanks for the update. How will the pricing structure work for us? - As we only purchased in Oct. We would probably be looking at using the Enterprise version. Regards, Michael
