SwedishChef Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Congrats on the new version, I want to check out the pop3 polling (then it should be able to replace our existing solution) I see you need a seperate app called MLH Live Alert which only comes in the enterprise version, is that the version that is being offered to schools ? Thanks for your help. Gary
ICTNUT Posted August 12, 2008 Author Posted August 12, 2008 MLH Live Alert is the Email polling and SLA portion of the helpdesk. The reason it was split into 2 distinct versions is that there are people who do not require these and as a result will lower the cost for them. Schools get the enterprise version when they apply for the helpdesk. MLH Live Alert is currently with the BETA testers in order to iron out some kinks and should go on release within the next week or so. I did want the helpdesk and MLH LIve Alert to be released together but I did not want to put back the release date of the helpdesk so I decided torelease the helpdeks and follow up with Live Alert later.
kujina Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Hello ICTNUT, I would like to get your helpdesk for our school, but this link OP Software - My Little Helpdesk isnt taking me to your form for schools? ...Thanks...
steelcityowl Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Hello ICTNUT, I would like to get your helpdesk for our school, but this link OP Software - My Little Helpdesk isnt taking me to your form for schools? ...Thanks... Me to. I have been searching for a good helpdesk solution for our school as well and this seems to be the best out there. Any chance you could send me the free educational software form link as well. Cheers
ICTNUT Posted October 14, 2008 Author Posted October 14, 2008 (edited) Hi All, Just a quick update; Unfortunately the helpdesk is no longer free due to increased costs and having to support over 250+ schools using the helpdesk. Pricing can now be found here ( OP Software - Educational Pricing ) and we believe that it is still the best you can get anywhere as I apreciate that you guys do not have a great deal of money out there. We are still dedicated to giving you the level of support you have always expected from us and as usual we will help in anyway we can. I am sorry I am having to do this and I tried to hold off as long as I could and 18 months is pretty good. Edited October 14, 2008 by ICTNUT typo
contink Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 RiP Why RIP? ... 250 schools free is a massive chunk of support time and £75 for a license is pretty good odds if the number of folks using it is anything to go by.
plexer Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I think for £75 it's a fantastic piece of software and while you could use one of the free alternatives there is time spent installing them normally on a linux box then setting it up and troubleshooting. MLH is a simple install and you have the backing of the support from Oz. Ben
ICTNUT Posted October 15, 2008 Author Posted October 15, 2008 (edited) 250 schools free is a massive chunk of support time and £75 for a license is pretty good This is exactly the reason why I am having to charge, in all honesty I have dropped the number of days that I do my day job in order to keep this running and provide the high level of support you all do and should expect. We are constantly trying to push things forward and most (80%) of the features that have made it into the helpdesk have come directly from schools using the software and this forum and this is something that I do not want to change. I do not know of any other software at this price where you can have so much input in shaping the development and path that the software will take. Don't forget that we have other software that is still free to schools. Edited October 15, 2008 by ICTNUT
maniac Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 MLH is an excellent helpdesk, I was lucky and obtained it when it was free, but there's been a new version since, so I will probably buy a license at some point so I'm eligible for the upgrades. It is very good value, £75 is less than £1.50 a week, and for a piece of software which will organise your entire department that's not bad at all! Mike. 1
fawkers Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Hello I've been looking at this product as we badly need a new helpdesk and we plan on implementing FITS at the same time. I've taken a look at the becta website here and there are some odd things that are mssing from the recomended Incident/request sheet most notable the Equipments ID. Are there plans for this software to include these fields or has this just been left for the custom fields? Also would it be posable to have custom fields which can only be written to by a tech/admin? Thanks in advance. .Adam
mortstar Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 (edited) Just a quick question is the latest version 0.9.7 or has there been an update? I've just purchased and on the purchaser in the download category I can only see 'previous versions' where do I get the most uptodate version. I could be having a very stupid moment here.... Edu-IT Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 I've just purchased and on the purchaser in the download category I can only see 'previous versions' where do I get the most uptodate version. The latest version is 0.9.8 I believe. Those customers who have a valid support contract please logon to the support site: http://opsoftware.ict-helpdesk.net and raise an upgrade request, your download email will then be emailed to you.
plexer Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Yes 0.9.8b is the current version we are working with. Allthough I believe I have several beta enhancements which won't be available until 0.9.9b unless they are provided as patches. Ben
SwedishChef Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 I've emailed them twice now with no reply. We were really keen to use this product and all I wanted to know what was the cost to us and what options/product do I need to pick to utilise pop3 mailbox monitoring for automatic call creation. I also registered for the free version before, so so you reckon I would be able to get it cheaper ? Although to be honest the cost is very resonable anyway. Gary
plexer Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 OP Software - Educational Pricing I'm not sure what live alert is a listed on the pricing structure. We are currently awaiting a beta of the email polling portion of MLH so it doesn't do this currently but it's being worked on. Ben
ICTNUT Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 Hi All, The latest version is 0.9.8 with BETA testers having various bits of 0.9.9. If you have a valid upgrade contract then you will need to login to OP Software and simply download it. If you do not have a username and password then please either email [email protected] or log a call on the helpdesk http://opsoftware.ict-helpdesk.net/ As far as LiveAlert is concerned this "was" the email polling application but do to a change of direction this is now being included as part of the helpdesk as standard and will be available with the 0.9.9 release due out soon. BETA tester are getting the Email Polling, Auto Close, and SLA Monitoring this weekend and provided it all works as expected I would look for 0.9.9 coming out mid Dec 08
mortstar Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 I am logged in but cannot see it on the logged in part of the site. The file downloads section only shows 'Previous Versions', not current version.
ICTNUT Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 I am logged in but cannot see it on the logged in part of the site. The file downloads section only shows 'Previous Versions', not current version. You are logged into the helpdesk where we no longer update the previous versions. We have a dedicated billing and download site @ OP Software if you do not have a password for this site please log a support request and one will be emailed to you.

Sorry about that.
kujina Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Ok, when going to site admin I get - Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0131' Disallowed Parent Path /help/admin/default.asp, line 1 The Include file '..\incs\functions.asp' cannot contain '..' to indicate the parent directory. Mean anything to you? Take a look at this link --> http://www.opsoftware.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,31.0.html I've got the exact same problem except the file is mysql.asp, that forum link that provided CHR1S with an answer doesnt work anymore.
plexer Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Error message when you use relative paths in include statements with Active Server Pages: "Active Server Pages, ASP 0131 Disallowed Parent Path" come on guys google is your friend. Ben
kujina Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 I had enabled "parent paths" on the folder in the website that contains the MLHD files but this didnt work. You have to enable it on the actual website i.e. "Default Web Site".
ICTNUT Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 Make sure that you follow the install instructions fully: https://opsoftware.ict-helpdesk.net/viewkb.asp?id=7
