mattx Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Count me out... I have two teenagers on offer... can cook... but don't tidy up. Can I send my two round for some cooking lessons ?
witch Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 That is SUCH good news - I'm really pleased for you after such a long wait.
cpjitservices Posted March 3, 2011 Author Report Posted March 3, 2011 Thanks for the congrats everyone really appreciate it
Willott Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Congratulations - expecting our first in July Just remember, at the 12 week scan, sit so you can see the sonographer's screen (then you see baby before mum does... I didn't do this, honest!)
elsiegee40 Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Can I send my two round for some cooking lessons ? The downside of teaching them to cook is that the raw ingredients are not off limits if they're hungry. It further reduces the chances of there being anything left to eat in the house. If they couldn't cook, at least I'd have something left for me to eat! Any way this is OT and I'm still delighted for OP
JJonas Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Congrats. My advice for this weekend have a lay in. You wont be doing that anymore after October.
Guest salan Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Congrats. Mine are grown up and married off (well one is the other is living with her partner). I remember the months of trying for a baby only to see the disappoinment in my wifes face when she found out she wasn't. For me the 'fun years' were until they had outside contact with other kids. Then they seem to 'grow up' and were no longer 'innocent' and happy. Its like they suddenly were exposed to the realities of life.. Alan
russdev Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Congrats and yes sleep and lots of it... Russ
GREED Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Congratulations, it is such a great feeling when it is announced! My first is due in 7 weeks eek!
rad Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Congrats too and also best wishes to the others expecting. You'll soon be passing the baby when it needs changing, dirty nappies are great fun (opps its lunch time!)
Haptic Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Many congratulations, It's nice to hear so many others in a similar situation to mine (expecting our first next month!) My very best wishes and good luck in fatherhood! Joe
crc-ict Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Yes, have to say sleep now while you can, you'll miss it! Seriously though, be involved with as much as you can - go to all the scans, appointments etc that you can. I know it's not easy with work, but it makes it all so much better for you both if you can. And when the big time comes, make sure you've had lots of rest in the run up and remember to look after yourself too.
Sirbendy Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Congrats! Echo the "sleep whilst you can" bit.. 16 months on, we class a sunday 7.30am wakeup as a lie in.. Take it easy, try to relax and enjoy the experience. Hopefully your missus doesn't get all day morning sickness throughout (mine did, badly). Go to the scans, take cash to get a copy. We have a handmade "memories" chest that things like that live in, along with first vests etc. Take pictures throughout of growing bump (good to look back on, we have a blog with our "found out to now" memories in, as well as lots of pictures, movies etc. Some tips: When the day gets close, get the bag packed and waiting. Don't procrastinate. When Jem went into labour it went straight to 4 minute gaps, no messing or slow introduction. Get your car serviced and keep 1/2 a tank of fuel in it. If you don't have a camcorder, get one...even if you don't record the birth, you won't want to miss the immediate video chance (next birth will be videoed on my flipcam). In the bag, put in some Jaffa cakes...we had a 12 hour labour, they were a godsend. Some books too = good. I also recommend as the time approaches, make up a stock of small, long keeping, easy-prep meals and freeze them. Trust me, you won't feel like or have the time for cooking for a while. I cooked for Jem throughout, and family stepped in post birth to help. I'm off to get Izzy from Nursery now, and I'm still stupidly excited by it, every day. It's the highlight of my evening.
