We currently use ESVA Global-Domination.org - ESVA - It's a separate Linux server with it's own external IP. We forward mail to this server which is a spam/content/virus filter which then forwards on to our Exchange 2003 server. It takes a little getting used to with setting up but once it's going you don't really need to touch it. We don't really get false positives and rarely let spam through. Plus it's free ;-)

Yeah maybe updating the drivers will help. Also in the printer settings, look for something similar to "TrueType Mode". Set it to "Download as TrueType" and NOT "Print as Graphics". This helped us out too.

We had this exact problem after upgrading to Office 2010. Turn out it's a problem with the Brother printer drivers we have (mostly HL-6050DN). To solve this, Brother Support advised us to use the driver for a HP Laserjet 6N. Oddly enough it solved our problem.

Hi All I have been asked to block the streaming video content on IMDB but keep the site unblocked. Does anybody know if the videos are streamed from a particular location? Have a look at the 70-640 exam. I am studying that at the moment and covered Windows Server 2008 R2: Active Directory. You get to learn about the OS, group policy, AD and useful labs too. MS TechNet has great free online labs too which are well worth it. VM's are also useful. Try setting up a DC with AD, add a replica DC, add a couple of Win 7 clients and try breaking things then fixing them. Experience on the job is also very useful.

Is it worth upgrading something of that spec to Win 7 Pro though? Netbooks are designed for low level work and to last on battery for a long period of time. Beefing up the RAM and OS seems a little counter productive.

We have the drives hidden and pupils cannot write/view the drive either. Never had a problem.

Surely it's just easier to hide the drive with restrictions to pupils? Out of sight out of mind and all that.

Thanks for the replies so far. I too an a doer and learn by practising things so I have been working through the practises in the press books on a Server 2008 R2 VM. I have been using Windows Server 2003 for years so just looking to brush up on 2008 R2 and the associated tools that come with it for example Powershell, new AD functionality and getting to know more about Certificate Services and the such. I know I can do the work but for me it's knowing the particular command switches and terminology that MS exams like to use on their questions.

Hi All I am in the process of studying for my MCITP:SA but finding it hard to study from the MS Press books. I am enjoying the subject but those books bore me to death! My question is, how do you guys revise for your certs? Do you use a different set of books, books and videos or just videos? How do you give yourself the time to do it whilst working and juggling family life? Also what do you think is the best method to really make the information stick? Thanks gl3nnym

I use doubletwist. This has a random shuffle of all songs feature and looks good on the lock screen too.

Thanks for the suggestions but these guys will definitely not know or care about defrag. Also everything is stored on shared areas so their laptops don't get much file movement going on.

Hello all For some strange reason (I think I was drunk) I have offered to do a quick CPD session for staff on keeping their Desktop/Documents/Email organised (it's what they wanted). I need to fill an hour with "Keep a folder structure, archive emails, use a naming scheme". Can anybody please offer any tips or best practises that would be good to show staff and bulk out a presentation? Thanks in advance gl3nnym

Can you not refuse to format then right click and Explore the drive? If not try a program called Recuva and Pandora Recovery. They are my go to tools and always work for me.
